IIRC the PK chugged along seamlessly when Forbort was out for a bit. Didn’t that put the Forbort PK stud to rest?
It did for me.

Then his playoffs made me reevaluate anything nice I ever said about him. And I realized there was no good argument. He's a league-minimum talent who should not be considered an everyday starter. A #7 D who can fill a PK role when needed. And nothing more.

WELCOME ABOARD, MY FRIEND. ALL ARE WELCOME ONCE THEY SEE THE LIGHT.

No clue.

With a full 23-man roster, this signing leaves the Bruins with $5,416,666 in cap space to sign Jeremy Swayman and Trent Frederic, who have filed for arbitration. And if Patrice Bergeron comes back? Well, they would need to send a body to Providence to open up a roster spot and that would free up space to give Bergeron an incentive filled contract.

I know how they can get Bergeron under the cap if he comes back, but no clue how they get Swayman and Frederic under $5.4 million

Yeah I didn't think about it at first. But @quietbruinfan was on it immediately. I think Freddy may be pricing himself out of town.

OR... Boqvist is competition? A no risk/maybe reward type of move?

I have a feeling someone is on the way out.
Then why a one-way deal? He's never had one and the most he's earned in 5 years is $70k in the AHL. A Lauko type deal where he is guaranteed $300K I could see. I know it's not my money but....

Kinda sounds like he’s Paille-light with better hands? I’ve never really watched him so I don’t know.
My opinion? I don't think he's that type of a player. Paille was a mucker. Boqvist never struck me as that. He's a playmaker with good shot and is wasted by playing with ham-and-eggers.

The question is whether or not he's good or (maybe) driven enough to earn a spot on a line with others who he can gel with. He got pushed down last year and didn't take the step forward that I think many assumed he would.

There are open spots on the Bruins for him to do just that. No cinch, but it'll be interesting to see if he can make that case.

I read that and I think two things.

1. It would be great to get him here via trade this year -- but even with him, I don't know if they're cup contenders.

2. It would be better to get him here next year via FA, without giving up assets for him, and have him when they are cup contenders.
No time like the present

I feel like 5.5 million should be enough for Freddy and Swayman. More than that would feel like paying for potential rather than what they’ve earned. Freddy had a pretty good season, but that’s all he’s ever done. And Swayman has only played 88 NHL games, which still blows my mind that people were ready to just hand him the keys full time already.
