He obviously won't but that's a good attitude to have

I'm not sure it is. If Yzerman said the same thing about Gretzky would that not be problematic? Showing a propensity for delusions of grandeur/narcissism? The only one with a shot at Bedard is Michkov if he announces he will join the NHL next year and move to a CHL team immediately (for example).

I much prefer the "It's the scouts' job to compare us, my job is to become the best I can be" attitude

I think a player wanting to be #1 shows their competitiveness. I think there's a fine line between being confident and being cocky. I remember when Barzal had interviews with GMs he said "pass up on me and see what happens" or even Caufield who said you're going to make the biggest mistake of your life passing up on me. Meanwhile a guy like Wright looked baffled at the thought of someone else passing up on him and said "my history should show that I deserve to go #1" which isn't the same thing and is more arrogant than anything.

I'd rather have that attitude than someone saying "I think I'm a good player but there are definitely better players than me". Of course, that's different when they are in the NHL (you can even see super competitive players acknowledging that McDavid is the best player in the league), they are supposed to try and sell themselves to the GM to get drafted.

If he work on his skating, he can be a good pick for Habs.

If Habs pick between 8-11, Sale, Allen, Wood, Stramel, Ritchie looks all good pick at this range.

not taking Stramel or Wood that high due to skating/speed. I have seen more of Wood and like what I see but in that range I think we can go with someone else there. Stramel I wasn't too impressed with but will see more of him plus his team is just terrible, Smilanic doesn't impress at all.

It's going to be sweet to have two of those guys when Florida falls off a cliff :)
Florida has looked very vulnerable this season. I've seen two of their games and they are not close to being the same caliber of team as last season. They're definitely missing Huberdeau on the PP as it has looked stagnant. Barkov can't do it all by himself. With that being said, I think the best we can hope is a top 15 pick out of them, and it probably won't be in the top 10 (barring a lottery win).

Yeah, no way I take either Stramel or Wood top 10.

Those numbers are absolutely crazy in a tougher league than junior OHL… since I don’t see Bedard approaching the McDavid pace of production this year… and Fantili is above Eichel’s one right now… when you also consider the difference of physical attributes, and that NHL teams still value those… I don’t think it’s that far fetched to imagine him giving Bedard a run for his money..

Yeah whenever I watch Stramel, I get the same feeling than when I watch Anderson as in you like the idea of what he could be much more than the actual player that he is. And Wood, while obviously gifted, is such an ugly skater who has no mobility whatsoever. The rest of his game is solid though.

I feel like Will Smith isn't nearly talked enough as a potential top 10 pick. His skillset is just nuts.

Don’t really see any way we’re able to get our way into the bottom 5 this year. Really unfortunate.

To be fair, Bedard doesn't much offensive help around him, whereas McDavid had Strome and Debrincat.

Fantilli is close to 3 PPG in the NCAA, Carlsson close to PPG in the SHL, Bedard 2PPG in the CHL. Nothing set in stone IMO, all 3 are having huge start of a season.

It will be fun to compare them on the same stage next WJC.
Such a great year to draft in the top 4. Four potential franchise/elite player.

What your top 10 so far?

Don't really have one yet.

Bedard, Carlsson, Fantilli & Michkov are currently in a class of their own. They're dominant in their leagues.

After that, you have the ppg players like Yager, Ritchie, Benson, Danielson, & Barlow then Euros playing well in men's leagues with Dvorsky & Sale, and a D in Allen.

So top 4, Yager, Allen then the next 6 and Smith. That's a top 13. But, I haven't ranked 7-13. I just know Stramel & Wood aren't in it.

Fantilli putting up generational stats so far and it isn't even close. Ppl still valuing Carlsson over him hmph

Another guy who will get consideration in the top 10/15 is Halttunen

He's ranked top-20 by just about everyone and is off to a good start in Finland
