In particular with Michkov, Putin seems to have found a way to keep players he wants in Russia with this conscription nonsense. He's found his way to put people in line.

And that, of course, assumes that Michkov really does want to play in the NHL. Maybe he's a St George ribbon wearing, Z toting, Duginist true believer in Great Russia that stretches from Lisbon to Vladivostok.
Translation: Putin's son with a mama bear.

In your opinion, with all of the centres on this list, at what point/which player, do you see a difference between someone who projects as a possible 1C, and someone who maybe only has 2C upside?

I'd say there's 50/50 that Fantilli plays C or W.
Yager is listed as a C but projects more favorably to the W - but I'll have a better feel of that this year.

I'd say Matthew Wood is where you start going, this guy has 1C upside but is more likely a 2C.

So that means only Bedard, Dvorsky and Carlsson as real #1C prospects? We better not miss.

Moore, Sternberg, Ritchie and Wood could all become 1Cs but 2C is a more likely projection where we sit today. But those guys are more in the same projection realm as Wright/Cooley from this year.

I don't want "could". I want a masterpiece of a surefire #1C.

With Dach in the fold, I’d be ok with Fantilli as either our 2C or 2LW. Gives teams a completely different look from the Suzuki line. If they don’t deal Anderson our second line could be Fantilli/Dach Fantilli/Dach and Anderson. And with Dach and Fantilli playing polar opposite styles it’d be hard to game plan them. Plus that size and skating…it’d cause fits

Fantilli seems to fit the profile they are looking for. Realistically I don’t think we sniff top 5 without lottery luck. Guess we will see.

But honestly, we should be hoping for player development more than the tank. Suzuki, Caufield, Dach and Slafkovsky is a forward core you can build around if they all reach their potential. How many forward cores consist of more than 4 elite guys? You can only have 4 forwards on your power play….

The organizational need right now is a top pairing right dman.

Thanks. I don’t get a chance to watch the prospects very much. I need to rely on people like you and a few others on here, to hopefully answer questions for me.

Carlsson vs Dvorsky vs Fantilli if we don't get Bedard.
You guys should not sleep on Michkov. I don't care about if he's coming to North America at the age of 23 years old. This kid is the most dangerous player of the draft along with Connor Bedard. For now, until somebody else shows otherwise. If the draft was today and we had the 2nd overall pick, you pick the best player available and that's Michkov.

And he shows up to play every night. He thrives under big games. He's as clutch as Bedard. Might be even more physical too.

Bedard is generational. If we were to win the lottery I’m not sure I want our top 2 centres to be 5’9” and 5’11” but there is no way you pass on Bedard. I think Carlsson is definitely in the mix for 2OA.
Bedard looks bulky enough for it not to be a hindrance. Like Suzuki
