Whoa - Stramel was considered top 10 at one point?
Top 10 to think 'Potato' was a color maybe.

It wasn't a terrible call. Stramel has an October birthday, so he played his 18 year old season with University of Wisconsin this year & he struggled. Team was terrible, as was the coach, who was fired at the end of the year.

In his 17 year old season, he played with US NTDP, and had 37 pts in 42 games. He played in 2022 u18 championships and had 5 points in 6 game. That's decent results for a D-1.

He's also 6'3, and plays a heavy power forward type game. A lot of places had him in that range in pre-season, but as the season went along, his offensive game never came around, and he fell.

He's 2nd round now.

Yep, Ive maintained that 2nd or 3rd round is good enough for the first G we draft. Hrabal could be one of them.
do you guys think we should select a goalie with our 2nd round pick ? dont know the goalie prospects but i know we dont have much in our system

Not necessarily in the 2nd but thats where I start to look. My targets are Hrabal, Clara, Fowler, Yegorov and Gajan.

Hrabal is the only one I would draft at 37 personally. Bjarnarsson last month in the CHL and his U18 performance have cool me down on him

Smith + Perreault is this year's Slaf + Mesar.
Would be even crazier if we somehow trade Anderson for a 1st-pick and draft Leonard to get the whole trio.

It's probably a very poor draft strategy, and even unlikelier that it actually happens, but could be pretty cool drafting a whole line knowing that all 3 of them complement each other so well and are all going to play for the same team in their D+1.

Watching Slovakia vs Canada again in full, and a few thoughts:

-Dvorsky is a beast, don’t believe anyone saying otherwise. Maybe not top 5, but he’s right there after that.

-Barlow is near the top of my list in terms of who I’m hoping for at 17. He looks like a 2nd line 25 goal scorer who brings size, leadership, and grit all day.

-if Cam Allen falls to the 2nd I’d be all over him. Obviously it’s been a bad year, but he’s still got first round tools.

Like Perrault and Ive been signing his praise for months but there's just no reasons for the Habs to even consider drafting him.
Besides the legions of RDS analysts licking their chops at the thought of drafting a québécois in the first round? Perrault is P'tit gars de chez nous material.

Hrabal is definitely worth it... he's very coordinated for being 6'6".. the sky is the limit there.

Otherwise, you could probably see Bjarnason, Fowler and/or Gajan still on the board by our 2nd round pick and I'd probably lean Fowler at this point.

Bjarnason's tracking skills just haven't come along enough, even though his movement skills are really great and athletically he's got the full package.

With a little luck, a guy like Gajan could be available with our early 3rd rounder, being a second year eligible and all. He'd be mighty tempting at that spot, he really fits the modern goalie blueprint. He has a good chance of being the main starter with Duluth next season, so development opportunities could be good.

I'm a sucker for monster goalies, we definitely draft him.
