I'm watching this game. Winnipeg has been awful. Yager's 1st goal was a bit of a fluke, his shot hit something, went up, hit the goalie on top of shoulder then crawled down his back into net. Lol

This goal was on a 5 on 3, which is why he has so much room to shoot.

He's been ok, but nothing really stands out about him other than a heavy shot.

We should avoid drafting Michkov....the risk is too great that he won't be able to come over. We should draft either Smith, Benson or Leonard.
Based on what?

I’ll elaborate, I’ve already explained why a draft into the army is a ridiculous notion. The only other point is the govt will directly intervene and ban Russian players from playing in the nhl.

A) hockey isn’t that important. It really really isn’t. I know that’s not what our media wants to believe lol but it’s true.
B) the day ovi stops playing in the nhl I’ll agree that drafting michkov is a bad idea

Ok, then I would not be mad if they select him. Moritz Seider is a fun d-man to watch, so if Reinbacher can have the same impact, that defensive group of Habs will be set for many years. But again, I would be more happy with Benson/Smith/Leonard/Yager.
Would you trade our pick for Seider?

Just finished to listen at Recrutes podcast and it basically confirms what Ive been saying about the situation, young Russians will now likely have to defect to come over, at the risk of putting their familily members in danger. 0 chance Michkov gets drafted early at this point, it has nothing to do with Russiaphobia, you just dont want to put the kid in an impossible situation. Grant has now Reinbacher as the most logical option for the Habs, then Dvorsky, exactly my 2 picks, will see how the lottery turns out.
MTL or any other teams with a lot of ressources could just pull him and his family out of there before the draft and keep him in NA.

As predicted, the kid is a big-time kinda guy.

Disagree, right place, right time.

Well sometimes McCagg is right and the HFboard geniuses are wrong.

He got it right about Wright and Slafkovsky, at least for draft order. I will reserve my judgment after 2-3 years. Right now, both look very raw. It could be a very weak draft after all.

Grants a moron.

You will all look silly at the draft when HuGo pull a Svoboda with Michkov……. Once again with the 5th overall pick……….
Michkov is no Svoboda…you guys are ridiculous

I am having a problem figuring out what is wrong with one of these potential draftees. I get the love for the top 4. I get the love for Reinbacher Then there are a bunch of players that I can't separate because they play on powerhouse teams. It is difficult to know where one skill set starts and the other ones end. To me the hardest thing to do in hockey is score goals. I see that there is a player that scores goals on a very average team with very average support. This guy plays against the top defensive pairing every night. He plays against the top line or top defensive line every night. Yet he still scores goals. So what's the down side? He must be another small forward. No. Ok then he must be a poor skater .No. Ok then he must not go to the tough areas. No. Then he must not have much of a shot .No he was voted the best shot in the OHL. Do the Habs not need someone besides Caufield to score goals. I am asking in all sincerity why Barlow is not getting any love?

Yeah I think he is getting the Tkachuk treatment around here... I think the problem is that some feel he has already matured and there isn't as much room to grow.

Drafting Russians is a risk, but that might be the single stupidest podcast episode I've had the misfortune of hearing. They hit all the cliches.
I'm saddened they didn't raise the alarm of Boris Badenov and Natasha as a reason to not draft Michkov either.

Wow. Just wow.
