who would you pick ?
we need a Goalie and RHD if we pick forwards with our 2 first i am hoping for (Benson and Leonard)

I'd say either Hrabal or Strbak

What about Cameron Allen is as droped quite a bit, would he be a great pick at #39 ?
Also Cataford could be a great pick as well, kindda look like Ethan Gauthier to me, always in your face kindda guy.

Shared this in the tank thread. This is random, I’m listening to 690, and Brian wildes on and he’s heard that they like someone with size that they’d go off the board for at 5. At 4 no issues but at 5 they’d go off the board and even went so far as to suggest that they wouldn’t even take smith.

Looking at the list, of top 15, dvorsky, sale, Ritchie, wood and honzek are the only ones who sort of fit that list. Kind of scary to hear that aloud

Wilde isn't credible

Crazy that we are naming players who are 6-6’1 as “players with size” in this draft. And one of them is 170 lbs.

There are no big forwards in this year’s top 10. Would be extremely stupid to reach on a guy that has size compared to the others in the top 10 when this advantage is nullified by them being barely over-average when they enter the NHL…
170 and probably the softest player in the draft, lmao.

How pissed would you be if we won the lottery, only to take ...Michkov?
First overall ? Or like landing 2nd ?

I think Hrabal and Strbak would both be good picks at 39th maybe one of them will distinguish himself before the draft.
Hrabal might have the high upside, Strbak might be the safer choice.

Caufield got injured i think we should draft a winger, what about Ghule, if they think like that it will never end, and after the top 3 snd Smith, who could be available that will be better than Suz or Dach ?
My point is only that you can't say the Habs don't need a top center. They should pick BPA, even if it is a center. Dvorsky seems pretty good for example as far as euro prospects are concerned

Passing on Bedard is a fireable move. I would think ownership is involved in that decision and that Molson isn’t dumb enough to potentially miss out on tens of millions in marketing.

It's a fireable move only if Michkov is less; there is no proof of that. In fact, if you go back, Michkov has performed better than Bedard on several occasions.

I would draft Barlow at the Florida pick but he won't be there. He's probably the main candidate to surprise and get picked before Benson/Smith. Remember, he was ranked 8th in McKenzie's midterm list and he's been producing ever since.

I honestly think the only certainties are Bedard 1st and Fantilli 2nd. Carlsson is likeliest after that. However, Carlsson, Michkov, Sale, Barlow, Benson and Smith could be picked in a completely random order and I wouldn't be that surprised. Now, let's just hope we don't reach but rather benefit from teams reaching in front of us.

Top center at our pick definitely but i don’t see Dvorsky as a top center, if Dach didn’t improve this year on the dot, i would had consider Dvorsky. Personally i take Yager before Dvorsky at 7-8

For the future i think we are set with Suzuki Dach now we need goal scorer and 1 other porward forward along Cauf and Slaf

He is less and there is uncertainty of his NHL presence. It’s a fireable offence and extremely stupid to gamble like that. If Bedard wasn’t even in the draft it would still be silly to pass up on a sure thing like Fantilli. But Bedard? Come on. It’s not like Michkov is bigger or producing more, etc.

How would you guys feel about this ?

1. Connor Bedard
2. Matvei Michkov
3. Adam Fantilli
4. David Reinbacher
5. Leo Carlsson
Nope. Can’t pass the Russian factor with Michkov and his KHL contract. Amazing talent but pass for me. Unless he’s there around 10.

Reinbacher way too high.

Michkov did win the U18 MVP ahead of Bedard and in that tournament Michkov was in another league vs. Bedard, a good tier over. What if Bedard is a 90 pts guy and Michkov is a 120 pts guy?

Michkov is in the KHL (and getting near point per game) while Bedard is in the WHL, hard to know exactly where Bedard would be in the NHL right now. Ie. they are hard to compare directly at this point.

Not really. There will be centers available at the Florida pick too. We could also take Reinbacher there or ASP.

Things will change by draft. Bedard is definitely going first overall, but no one had Slafkovsky or Powers going first overall until much later in their draft year. Powers at one time was ranked 7th. Ditto Slaf. Wright fell to 4th. Players fall & move up all the time.

We'll know more where we pick & who will be available after the lottery.

For sure now its only speculation i just dont see the top line in Dvorsky, low end 1 C yeay maybe, better than Suz i dont think so and we have Dach for the second line

Again speculation but im drowning at a Slaf Dach Cauf line, two player that create space and the little one waiting to snipe when they open the ice

Bpa 100% agree with you, just not Dvorsky at 7 as we stand right now . But with the Florida pick sure since the C and D will always have more value, but im dreaming of Dubois hehe

Slaf Dach Cauf
Dub Suz Yager

Yeah and Michkov is also 7 months older.

How did he do in the WJC? In the cancelled one, Bedard was on pace to double Michkov’s totals. Then the year after Bedard broke records and had a tournament we haven’t seen since Forsberg/Naslund 30 years ago.

Oh yeah Bedard is also a centre and isn’t a risk of never coming over. I’d also be curious to know the last time a CHL player outscored 2nd place on his team by 50 points despite playing 10 less games.

There’s just no world in which the scenario makes any sense.
