If you’re 5’10 160lbs, you should have an elite physical trait (ie skating, shot). He doesn’t. He’ll be a really good player, but it’s a legitimate concern in a draft this good.
Yep agree, cant see us drafting Benson, very good player, but very small/light and not an elite skater or shooter. This is not what Habs need on their top 6.

Barlow was tied for the league lead in goals but that didn't last long as he's 1 back now. He's played 96 games in the OHL and has scored 60 goals.
He’s the only 17 year old in the top 20 goal scorers in the OHL. Only person younger is Michael Misa who is 20th in goals at 15 years old.

He's a solid prospect. He's average size & not overly physical, but he doesn't shy away from it either. RHD.

Great skater. Smooth. Excellent offensive skills, both as a playmaker & shooter. He has surprised defensively this year. Wasn't overly hyped coming into this year because he was playing behind Brandt Clarke in Barrie. Clarke spent the first half of the year in L.A allowing Akey to take over #1 D duties which he has successfully done. It's made him a riser.

He's crept into late 1st on some lists.

Imo, he has Josh Morrissey type upside.
Exactly the type of answer I was looking for, thanks! Will keep an eye on Beau, not choice but to root for a guy with a name like that to make it to the show.

Terribly underrated prospect, while he isnt as flashy and sexy as kids like Benson, Cristall, he is a very effective 2-way player who uses his size/reach greatly, plays a simple effective 200 ft. game combined with strong goalscoring skills. Playing a mature game already doesnt make him a finished product yet, it only tells you about his hockey IQ and pro level potential. I think any team drafting this kid gets a pretty solid top 6 winger in the making. Habs need a Barlow in their top 6 more than a Benson or a Cristall.

They need a guy who can lead a line offensively. I'm not interested in recreating a Bergevin team with a bunch of 20 goal guys.

Barlow older, physically mature and doesn't look like there's much more growth to his game. His goal scoring isn't gonna scale up to a perennial 30 goal guy.

He's probably the best player imaginable to play with Suzuki/Caufield.

I agree, but he's interesting if the Florida pick is around 15 - I think he'll have some 30 goal seasons as a grinder in the top 6.

I cry every night knowing it won't happen.

At 2 the brain geniuses would take Fantilli and we can't get 3.

The Gorton special would actually be taking Carlsson at 2 and then having him bust while Fantilli becomes a PPG player

But honestly if we're top 4 that's a rare can't miss scenario and I see both Fantilli and Carlsson becoming 60pt+ guys, with Carlsson having the higher upside. Bedard is a lock to be a 100 point scorer tbh

Barlow doesn’t seems to have something spectacular in his game, but he gets the job done with some decent size already.

Maybe a JT Miller kind of guy?

I’m surprised the panel didn’t pick one of the California teams. A sort of reinvigoration of hockey there like the Gretzky trade.

Obviously I’m biased, but it would be nice to have a player of that quality in the East (since the West has McDavid). Assuming the Leafs keep Matthews and Marner, it would make an exciting rivalry. Also the timing would be perfect for the Habs. I expect the Bruins to dip in 2ish years because of the age of their core. Tampa too.
