Only a fool would draft Fantilli before Michkov.

Unfortunately, while I respect Hughes' intelligence, I fear his pro-US college bias. He seems exactly like the kind of guy to pick a Fantilli over Michkov only for us to watch Michkov be a transcendental player elsewhere for the next 15 years while Fantilli becomes a smashing ball machine type low end 1st line center from lack of IQ. This is already a possibility with Slafkovsky, with the big caveat that at least there weren't any god-tier players in the 2022 draft, so Slaf's size and skillset was worth a shot in those circumstances. Hope Hugues proves me wrong.

I see a lot of Barkov in Leo Carlsson. He would be my favorite pick at #2. I feel like he would bring a ton to an hockey team.

Who knows if we will get a shot at him, but if we do, I hope we take him (unless we have #1 and then, obviously it would be Bedard).

Fantilli has the 2nd highest ppg for a U-19 player in the last 20 years in the NCAA. Jack Eichel's 1.78 ppg is the highest to Fantilli's 1.63. So he's doing something that the NCAA has only seen 1 time in the last 20 years, that's saying something. After 1st OA it's going to be very interesting to see how this draft plays out.

best case scenario is team's lose some faith in him and he falls to our pick.

I think you have to think long and hard about adding ASP with that Panthers pick assuming it’s in that 10-15 range. What a talent at a position of need.

Eichel is already a smoking gun that NCAA leaders don't always correlate to the NHL.

In a vacuum? Yes.

In this geo-political climate and the long KHL contract, with no certainty he is even allowed to exit Russia when it's over?

You'd be foolish to take Michkov ahead of Fantilli.

Bold prediction, Salé wont get drafted top 10. Kid is a softie.
The TSN PBP guys were saying how he was a lock for a top 10 pick. I don't see it, especially not in a draft like this one. I don't think your prediction is that bold, and you're known for your bold takes.

Button had him over Michkov lol, thats a really bad take. Talent is there, we all saw it at the U18, but he might be the softest player picked in the 1st round of the upcoming draft.

Where you getting these vibes?

Surely not Slaf over Cooley?
Or Mesar over Howard?
Surely not Beck over Chesley?

Do you think Spencer Sova goes 1st round?

I didn't like what I saw from Charlie Stramel in a game at Wisconsin but in the WJC's he's impressed me a bit more. I think he's got a terrible coach at Wisconsin and of course it's a terrible team so his #'s have to be taken with some context but I am very interested in the Matthew Wood vs Charlie Stramel debate.

You should, Brindley is smaller and plays much bigger. The way a kid handle himself physically is part of the evaluation, you want to see a high compete level and a willingness to win his puck battles. Cooley is another good example, not the biggest center, but battles really hard all over the ice.

No debate for me. Stramel doesn't have any special tools for me offensively. I'd rather gamble on Wood.

Sova sucked so hard last year I'd be Dubious picking him at all.
