Need more though. The roster is too analytical, too clinical. Especially the forwards. Seems like Sykora is gonna be that guy, eventually. But that doesn’t help us now.

Being THAT elusive and getting the puck up ice like he does is so valuable. He's a 3 zone carrier, if thats the only thing he can do at the NHL level he's still an NHL player.

I've seen him get blown up once.


Also his numbers are pretty good across the board. If Russia were able to play at the U-18's he likely goes way higher than he did.

I don't see that. I just see a good skater.

well we obviously have a great history of helping guys improve their skating tremendously so i wouldn't have any concerns

he did improve his skating.

If he continues to improve even further he's going to be big dick AND big brain
 
It's amazing that we got a better player at 23 than Montreal got at 5. That's Gordo and Bobrov thinking that they are smarter than everybody in the room. I liked Gordo but Bobrov just picked all euros . I like euro players but too much is no good. So many wasted picks for NYR. Thank God he's gone. I don't see much in David Reinbacher. He's not even the best D in the first round. They could have traded back 10 picks and still gotten him. Same with AZ.

Anyway, we should be very happy with Gabe Perrault. I think and hope that he is and will be the steal of the draft.

I'm not sure Montreal took the best D man at 5, much less the best player.

Some surprises in the first is shaping up the 2nd round to be pretty bonkers. Still have the 2 Prince George forwards, Heidt and Ziemmer. Cristall, Sawchyn, Brindley, Perron, Morin, Čiernik.. tons of skill left, plenty of other names. Teams are going to get very good players on day 2

Even if we say all 1st rounders I'm not sure if that has ever happened before . We've seen 2 linemates go high ,,,,right off the top of my head Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathon Drouin. Scouts have looked ar Smith and Leonard being the keys to that line but I think there is evidence Perrault could have been more key than leonard. It will be interesting comparing their careers.

Tukkonen, Nokelainen, and Korpikoski if memory serves. All first rounders and we got the 3rd guy in that scenario too.

Othmann and Sykora are both LW's.

With the big club Kane and Tarasenko both likely gone. They are both RW's.
Motte is a natural LW that plays RW as well.
Vesey is a natural LW that plays RW as well.

In the system Punjanemi and Lockwood are both natural RW's. Few RHS players were selected in 2021, but they were mostly Centers.

No? Go back far enough in the draft thread (not this live one, the general one), and you’ll see me singing his praises. I’d just mostly given up on posting about him more recently because I felt there was no way he’d make it to our pick

from what I remember Othman was playing RW at the WJC. He has played RW before.
 
I know he has limited upside, but I would not mind Levis in the 3rd. Seems like BMB in the sense that he was originally expected to go higher but got stuck behind a stacked/older team. Has the possibility to have a really good D+1 year. Also I think Tourigny could be an ok pick if nyr get a 4th rounder and he's still available. On the smaller side, more skilled LD, anyone have any other insight on him?
