Thare arent so many of the 05 guys who have played a lot of games in j18 this season but i agree that is a relavent list if there has been more games. Here is a list of PPG Born 05 played in J18Region this season so far

I agree, not so many ‘05 players, but if we are honest, something would be wrong with our hockey, if to many ‘05 players would play J18.
Something else is also interesting; look at the top 5 - 3 foreigners: Dvorsky, Bedard, Kopac and totally different picture then in U16. It means that our hockey has a big meaning in the world if such a young top players are coming here to develop!

I´ve seen quite many U16 and U18 games the last years. This year U16 regional väst is far stronger than any of the other regions. When you come to U18 it´s not the same. Väst is good but södra is the strongest this year. U16 Stockholm is not comparable at all. To uneven. And to compare the stats and draw any solutions is hard. An example. Troja (U16) was up in Region väst and playing training games before the season. They lost for an example with 1-13 against Färjestad. And lost against BIK Karlskoga (U16 div1) 1-6 ... I guess a team like that in a division affect the stats for an example. And you have to remember that the clubs have different strategis in how they let the the guys play U18. And in som of the teams as Växjö, Frölunda, Brynäs, Leksand, Färjestad for an example there are more good players. That will also affect the chance of play U18. For an example, two of my favourites in the 2005 group Joel Svensson, Otto Stenberg have only played 3 U18 games. It´s harder to advance in big SHL clubs. And i think that is good. If they don´t get a big role in U18, better to play competitive games in a strong U16 division. With that said, i think this year that also includes Covid will give us a hard challenge ranking them.

but then I don’t understand why this players, if they can’t play more J18 because of so many good older players, don’t play U16 - but they don’t play there either! What is the purpose?

Zachary Benson. Boy is hot at the beginning of the season Whl at 15 years old. Apparently it had a growth spurt, as it was very low last season.
I saw Benson at a tournament 1.5 years ago. The kid was tiny and kept dangling himself into traffic. Incredible progress, he’s looking great at the WHL level.

Maybe because he is foreigner and wanted to go to HG.
Probably. But from my point of view he could have qualified for a HG with a team in U18 Region. Oskarshamn U18 play in U18 div 1. Bit he might been promised a spot on J20 who plays J20 nationell.

this would be logical explanation, all due I still believe it’s hard to find HG spot for a foreigner, since you must be registered to Sweden school system. I think that by skills he could be part of any HG. We’ll see how this will turn up.

WC U-18..... 1-12 against Canada is way to much. I hope it was just a bad day we had, otherwise this could be a consequence, because we finished with with our junior leagues way to soon!

Maybe, but he´s been here for three years now. It will be exciting to follow.

I saw the game and they did not compete on the same level. A bit big numbers but i guess they learned a lot. i think they can bounce back if the the leading players show the right character and the goalies step up.

I read the posts and think - at first there are no more than two Russian players in any rating, and then we see at the next U18 world tournament how the top prospects from these ratings cannot compete on the same level with the guys that no one knew before. Why is this happening? You must understand that the levels of junior leagues differ, so the top prospect of Slovakia in CSKA U16 or Dynamo U16, playing in the Moscow championship, will be an ordinary player of the 4th line. Therefore, all ratings are just sand castles that will be destroyed when these guys meet face to face on the ice and we really see who is who.

1. Slovakia is not at the U18 world championship this year. So we have to wait for Hlinka - Gretzky cup (hopefully its not canceled). That tournament can be great test for our 04/05 born players.
2. Slovak junior leagues were shutdown this season because of COVID and most of Top Slovak prospects for 2023 Draft are not even playing in Slovakia anyway ... but in Finland or Sweden (Dvorsky, Ciernik, Strbak, Sisik .... Only Molnar was in Slovakia and he played men's hockey). And Finnish and Swedish junior leagues are as good if not better than Russian.
3. There is CURRENTLY only one Russian prospects for 2023 draft who is better than Dalibor Dvorsky .... And that's Michkov obviously
