I mean I'm not sure we're watching the same team. They grind, press and create a ton of chances but can never find the back of the net, hence why Bob has like 2.5 GSAX per game. Their issues in the conference final should actually encourage us to draft players who can strike and finish, such as Caufield and Benson.

Or Cristall.

They failed last year also with mainly the same roster and without players being injured.

They're the new Tampa, lacking jam when it counts.

They're now 0:11 in the conference finals that's brutal!
No injuries, eh?

No. 1 goalie was out.

Ranta couldn’t stop a beach ball.

If they leave Michkov, Smith, benson or Reinbacher on the board I will f***ing lose it. HuGo are already on thin ice with the Slaf/Mesar pick and letting Firkus slide to pick Beck, i cant f***ing muster the courage of another "trying to be the smartest in the room" pick.

For all we know with Gorton and Bobrovs horrible ass draft record (actually worse than the Habs Bergy era), it will f***ing happen.
Hugo also made the best pick in the entire draft relative to where he went tho. And he'll probably end up a top 5 player in the 2022 draft class

Which is great if you’re playing baseball and can go around the bases at any pace. Unfortunately this is hockey and you can’t skate like Dave Semenko anymore.

Haha Good one... as I'm sure you know, it's his skating that will determine whether it's a home run or a strike out. The kid just went through a massive growth spurt so some of his skating issues will be because of that... it will improve pretty much no doubt about it... how much is the million dollar question... Still it would take real balls to pick him at 5.

All you guys that say you want high upside and skill etc... if you aren't pounding the table for him I don't get it. Might have the highest upside after Bedard & michkov...

I want people to watch the video of Benson that I posted and tell me what they're talking about when they say he plays an inside game, with timestamps. Timestamp every instance you think is exemplary.
Like three of the first five points he picks up are from the inside, then he gets a few goals as tips... What do you mean exactly by inside? Does he need to initiate contact? Power through the crease? Get greasy blue paint goals?

In what way?

I feel we all were surprised he went 5 but he was 5th on Mckenzie’s final ranking.

Just that he was kind of in the late top 10 for most of the year and made a big push throughout the last rankings and combine, then got discussion as far as potentially going 3rd overall but ultimately going 5th.

Then follows up with a really promising D+1 and it makes sense in retrospect.

Can't lie. I watched and didn't see the inside game in three of those first five points. Hard not to like Benson's O awareness though.

Yeah, i see it too for Leonard. He’s gonna be fun to watch in college.

I see him at worse going 7th but he could go 5th to us or 6th too i wouldn’t be surprised at all.

Things like this just keep popping up on The Athletic

He outperforms both.

Fantilli and Carlsson are far from bad, actually i think they both display very nice tool. It just put into perspective what Slaf has done.

We heard to be careful with international tournament. It was simply a way to diminish what he did. It was a 1% thing from any 17YO in history.

This being said, since we are in the NHL draft thread.

The prospect thats displaying the most to me in the WC right now is Reinbacher. I am very warming up ti his selection at 5 if he is our pick.

I think Guhle, Hutson and Reinbacher has the foundation of one of the best D squad in the NHL.
I haven’t watched any this year but it is interesting that Slaf is supposed to be a scrub compared to these guys. I don’t buy it.

I heard many say at the time that Lafreniere was going to be the far better player than Jack Hughes. Hardly the case now.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Slaf compares very favourably to the top end guys in this draft.

Really really hope we go with Reinbacher. Our D will be in tremendous shape. Nice too hear he looked good. I don’t know enough about the team needs of the teams drafting above us but I honestly wouldn’t be too shocked if Reinbacher goes top 4. I think it pretty unlikely but I wouldn’t be shocked
