Perhaps it means nothing but when asked about Michkov after the 5th pick was confirmed, Hughes admitted he was a unique case this year because of the war and his contract and a lot of things would need to be considered...and there he mentioned Molson...

After the Mailloux hot potatoe, I'm fairly confident Molson will veto Michkov...
Would be hypocritical to pass on Michkov, who has no control over his precarious situation, because you took Mailloux, when he had every opportunity to not do a shitty thing.

Yeah, San Jose has signed a few Russians this year. I'm hoping they're loading up with the idea of luring Michkov. If you can't get Bedard, and want a super star.... SJS needs everything, and have a long rebuild ahead.

Sharks have Barabonov, Svechnikov, Knyzhov, Gushchin, Mukhamadullin, Kniazev, Okhotiuk, Guryev, & Romanov in North America right now either on their team or in the AHL. That's a lot!

If Columbus likes Smith as has been rumoured maybe Carlsson falls to us.
Man would I ever be happy.

Sharks - Michkov
Habs - Carlsson

Aside from Bedard, hard to imagine a much better situation. But good things don't happen to us.

If this is their thinking then it's extremely dumb thinking. No connection between these players apart from the fact they both wear skates.

Why would you be happy for your team to draft a worse player.

I get the hesitation because of the Russiansituation. . Honestly, he might be on the front lines in a WW2 tank pretty soon if Putin keeps going the way he is.

"Hypocrisy" is saying one thing but doing something contrary.

Mailloux made a mistake (which he 100% owned up to - to his credit).

Michkov, as you say, did nothing wrong.

I'm sure the Puritans of the board might disagree.

Huh? Which player are you referring to?

Funny because when you go on SJ Sharks wall, they have the same debate.

I hope to go the Michkov way, but easy to tell from my couch.

I agree but I don't think Molson wants to go through another potential PR nightmare.

He can alleviate that somewhat by informing his major sponsors of the potential, and putting out to favored journalists that Montreal WILL consider Michkov at #5, and see how much everyone freaks out.

Clearly not the same situation than Mailloux. It's not the kid's fault if Russia invaded Ukraine.

There's no way we pass on Carlsson

We're building the montreal slovakians. In reality, one of Carlsson or Michkov will be sitting at our spot, and I'm more mentally preparing for us to skip on Michkov. I would be shocked if Smith doesn't end up in Columbus.

So every Russian pick in the upcoming draft will be a PR nightmare? I want to understand.
We had Gurianov and Dadonov playing for us this season.. I don’t get that argument.

Anyway, he’s not in the NHL until 2026-2027. And that’s why we and San Jose should pick him if available. It’s a blessing, not a curse.

I have no explanation for you. I don't personally agree and I'm hoping we take Michkov if he falls to us. But to think that Molson will not have his word...
