HF Habs: 2023 NHL Draft part 2

If we draft Leonard, I insist that we call him The Stabilizator.

There are no "stabilizers" on the USNDTP it is all offense all the time. Elite's dunking on lesser competition more often than not. I know it is not your term but I would rather reply to you as you seem like a rational person.

Button will not yield on Eduard Sale.
There is alot to like on Sale, fluid fast skater and excellent vision and creativity, basically great foundation for complete offensive winger, but sometimes his work ethic scares me. He is one of the few wingers who has legitimate superstar potential, but bust potential is propably as high. Huge risk huge reward guy, can see him being 90 point playmaker, but at the same time no nhl player at all.

What's the point of tanking if you're going to draft Leonards?
we didn't tank, we just sucked and hit by a crazy amount of injuries, and who's to say leonard doesn't have a better career than someone picked before him ? The consensus draft list isn't always right and your also under rating Leonard's game. It's OK to have opinions tho

Alexander Semin :naughty:

It was in the TSN690 interview with Mitch Gallo the day after the lottery.

Did you listen to that interview?
Where he said the following?

“It’s kind of a risk-reward assessment for any team that is considering drafting him…It would be a tiebreaker…if you’re considering Michkov and another player you deem very, very comparable in terms of talent and potential, then those factors are probably going to weigh him down. But we’re not there yet where I can say we believe there are others equal to him, or that he’s equal to them for that matter” - Kent Hughes

If you're referring to those comments, then yes, I did listen to the interview and as I had written prior, there's context that needs to be applied and most importantly, as I bolded above, they're not at the stage where they've ruled out anyone.

If you're referring to another interview where he was much more definitive or conclusive, then no, I haven't heard that and I apologize if that was the case.

But again, as I said earlier, i'd be surprised he would have been so open, given there's absolutely no point in any GM revealing his hand on who he is or isn't going to pick at the draft.

I'm not sure what you took issue with that I said, but yes that was the quote I was refering to. And, I agree with everything you said in this post about it.

Leonard and Moore all offense? Dont tell that to your scout friends, they will laugh at your face.

I didn't take issue with anything you wrote, we're good.

I was just specifying that Kent Hughes never explicitly said that if there's an equal talent to Michkov, he (Michkov) will lose that competition. His comments were a bit more ambiguous then that.

All good :thumbu:

I’m scared guys. I don’t trust this team

Not drafting Michkov because he is a Russian would be the equivalent of not drafting Will Smith because the real Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscar

Do the right thing and grab BPA no matter what

One of these 2 is an actual good reason not to draft the player. The other is just an unfortunate geopolitical conflict.

Cant see the Habs drafting a winger at 5 in this draft.
with Suzuki,Dach and possibly Dubois management could take the winger if hes BPA i would much rather have Michkov,Benson or Leonard then Dvorsky

Wouldnt mind Reinbacher dont know much about him but from what i been reading he should be a good one and we have a big need on the right

People still sleeping on Dvorsky after his impressive U18 showing, I dont get it, not sexy but so damn effective all over the ice.

I think Hughes mentionned if 2 players were about equal value, they would favor the position, which means the center or the D. Since Leonard isnt a better prospect than Dvorsky IMO, it would eliminate him from the equation.

Anyway, its likely Reinbacher at 5.

Do you think he will be better then Suzuki,Dach or Dubois? would prefer Carlsson to them but idk about Dvorsky maybe i just dont know enough about him but personally i prefer Michkov,Benson,Leonard and Reinbacher at #5

Or because he's american and the USA has commited attrocities for decades now.

Oops, got too political.

I am high on Reinbacher and would definitely consider him at 5 but I'm curious to hear why you think it's likely Hughes picks him instead of either Smith or Michkov. I would think it's between these 2 at that spot.

If Smith is taken and we choke to pick Michkov, it will be between those players:

Dalibor Dvorsky Zach Benson Ryan Leonard Matthew Wood Oliver Moore
