Sounds like most here would rather flip a coin for $10 instead of just taking $8 cash in hand.
It's more like rolling a dice where if it lands on 1-5 you get $100 instead of taking $10 cash in hand.

Well It's out of our hands. We take one of the 5. We should be happy with whoever we get. We can't lose unless they reach for someone else. Doesn't seem to matter what management we have they all seem to think they know better than everybody else and do stupid things. Don't f**k it up Kent . Pick who's left outa the five. Simple.

I agree. Whoever is left from Carlsson, Mitchy and Smith should be ours

Should, and it seems open to interpretation. Seems to me like Hughes doesn't want to take Michkov. But others seem to interpret his comments differently.

you think Michkov is 10x better than the next ranked?
I think the rest of the pack projects as guys with top 6 upside, I'm sure some maybe end up turning into legit 1st line players.
But Michkov could be a franchise or borderline generational winger. With how starved Montreal's been for a star forward, I'd value anyone with Michkov's potential 10 fold over any "top 6 projected" prospect.

It seemed to me he was leaning things wide open, which is smart but you very well could be right and he's completely off the table. If that's the case Benson slides in there with Carl and Smith

The comments from Hughes I read is that they haven't looked deeper into his case which means he's only ranked by "video watching" so far and they haven't evaluated his off-ice "character". If they can't interview him, Habs aren't taking him.

Pronman was saying scouts seem to think Benson isn't in the convo at the top. I don't get it.

You don't, if he was high on there list his answers would look more like what Mike Grier told.

At the same time, He's an ex-agent so can he answer that so every body in the league thinks they are not interested to be sure to grab him ? Unlikely but we never know with the draft

Could be Montreal really likes him and thinks he'll be there, so they downplay him.

I imagine if you asked him about Smith he would be overly giddy either.

I think if you look at his comments in a completely different light you get something completely different.

Hughes said if there's, almost a twin, then Michkov and his contract status/Russia's status would be a negative factor. - TSN 690 interview.

What if, and maybe it the gummies talking, but what if he (Hughes) wasn't referring to Michkov vs Benson/Smith/Leonard, but rather Michkov vs Bedard and maybe Fantilli ?

So, if the Habs were to draft 1st, or 2nd, while Michkov has the talent/skill to rival them, but the contract status gives the edge to the other two.

If you remember the draft talk and the behind the scenes talk about Slafkovsky they weren't sold on him until close to the draft and said so. Habs saying that Michkov is, or isn't their pick at this point is just bad management and not doing their due diligence. They (Habs) can't get too attached to a prospect like Michkov, as they know there's a good possibility he isn't there for them to select.

Michkov has no twins...

Two things.

The upside of Michkov is more than the 10$ relative to the 8$.

Second, why is the 8$ guaranteed? We could both skip Michkov and pick a bust.
well it is guaranteed that one will get a contract and play in NHL
The 10-8 ratio may be adjusted if you prefer

Has to watch what he says wrt MM. Show hints of wanting Michkov and SJ will be knocking for goodies for not taking him.

Poker face in effect unless you hold the cards, highest pick.

The after effects of last night's draft lottery remind me so much of a year ago when everyone convinced themselves Wright was automatic. Everyone now seems to think we're taking someone from a top 5 that includes Michkov and are setting themselves up to be shocked when we take someone else.

Michkov has slipped to #5 on Bobby Mac's poll of scouts. Given where things are trending, I bet he'll be out of the top 5 in the final rankings just like when Wright slipped out of #1.
