As I will never shut up about, @Art.Vandelay and I were at this game.
Had a Moose Drool and a fresh fish sandwich, while visiting with a friend of 30-40 years, then stepped over to Eppig Biergarten for another beer.It was a nice day...and as of this moment I don't know who was gifted #1 overall.....if you haven't tried it...ignorance is bliss.

Last I looked, VGK 5, EDM 1. Woo-hoo! Not this year either, bay-bee!McDavid - no cups yet
so true.Dummies often like to call the Coyotes the disgrace of the league but I think the Hawks are the only real disgrace in the league.
I'm happy with the lottery results. I wasn't worried about the Ottawa pick. Thought for sure we were dropping to 7 or 8 though.Hey, we're picking 6th and 12th.
I hate that CHI got the first OA, but I'm not so sure I agree that they should've lost it as punishment over the sexual assault scandal. People stepped down, the organization was assessed a $2M fine ($1M of that fine is going to fund support and assistance programs for victims of sexual abuse,) and they also had to settle lawsuits on top of the $2M fine.
The Coyotes were caught cheating in a manner that gave us an unfair advantage at the draft. We lost a draft pick for cheating the draft.
Where's CHI's karma though?
Supposedly, we have a great scouting staff, must be better than all others, according to BA anyway, so theres that. I hope we get a Keller/Chych combo at 6/12, but we should do better than that because of our great staffThe drop off out of the top tier is too harsh for Anaheim to consider anything like that. Fantilli isn't far off Matthews. He will be their finishing jewel.
BA is going to have to go Buffalo mode and just accumulate absurd amounts of assets until it floats the boat.
Post lottery virtual presser with Bill Armstrong.
Listening to him on PHNX too …BA's post-lottery presser:
"..We were just at the u18 worlds, and ya know, you fall in love with some of the players that you gotta chance to get...
...When you're with the Coyotes, and you have all of these picks, especially at six and twelve, we gotta chance to get the majority of the players that we scout...
...Our two head scouts, Darryl and RJ, ya know, when you ride with those guys in the car on scouting trips, you get excited about the way they describe these players...
...and the defining qualities they have, the biggest ones, and I can tell you from watching the u18s, there's a couple of guys in our area that we're gonna pick and you look at them and the defining quality is those guys that we're out there watching, they play like champions. They play so hard and compete so hard and lose themselves within the team. You fall in love with those players. To think that we get a chance at getting a couple of those guys, that's a great thing for this organization...
...we are gonna grab two great players in the first round and give ourselves a chance to win a championship down the road, and those are the defining qualities that I've seen outta the players that are there..."
^ VERY interesting quotes to me. Makes sense they're looking at Strbak at 38th. But the two guys I really thought of are Leonard first and foremost, but also Dvorsky. I suppose maybe Barlow Ritchie and Wood? Maybe Stenberg.
I've heard conspiracy rumors that Bedard was going to Montreal to showcase him in a big hockey market. I've heard conspiracy rumors that Bedard was going to Arizona so Bettman could save his ass for trying to revive that failed market. I've heard the Chicago rumor and others too. Seems to me like it's just a bunch of outside noise.I’ve been Bedard to Chicago conspiracy theory since October. Maybe it’s fixed but 99% chance it’s not.
As a Coyote fan clearly we’ve been on the wrong side of draft outcomes, however, the owners (and their hired commish) have protected and kept this organization in Arizona when they could have moved moved us a half dozen times. Hopefully league and fan faith is rewarded with a yes vote next week.
No different than election deniers.I've heard conspiracy rumors that Bedard was going to Montreal to showcase him in a big hockey market. Not pleased that Chicago, after the sex abuse scandal, is allowed to get the showcase player. They should have lost at least their 1st round draft pick for that coverup. No different than election deniers.
While would all have loved to move forward, we stood pat, right where we should be. I see nothing to complain about here.
As someone pointed out previously in this thread of complaints, they have paid a price and more importantly what they did had nothing to do with getting an upper hand at the draft, or illegally determining anything about prospects. Not pleased that Chicago, after the sex abuse scandal, is allowed to get the showcase player. True. Still, the optics are terrible for the NHL. Fine a billionaire a couple of million, but don't let it impede the team at all.As someone pointed out previously in this thread of complaints, they have paid a price and more importantly what they did had nothing to do with getting an upper hand at the draft, or illegally determining anything about prospects.
