Perrault is different from Savoie and Ostlund.

Savoie is way more balanced between being a playmaker and a finisher. He is like Cozens in that regard.

He is closer to Ostlund. But, I think Perrault has more top line or top 6 potential than Ostlund, especially on the Sabres given that Thompson, Cozens, and Savoie could all be ahead of Ostlund in the center pecking order for the foreseeable future.
Perrault's dad is also a specialist in hockey skills training, which will only help GMs be more comfortable in drafting him. His upward trajectory is pretty hard to ignore.

He's so small, only 165 pounds; I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing at his age. At 5'11" he isn't tiny, but not the big boy we'd prefer on the left side.

Tkachuk has quickly become my fav non-Sabre, or, very close to it. Anyone of that ilk (even with a wart or two) that can be had? I want grit with a scoring touch that WANTS to win.

I fail to see the problem
Its not if we pick him I am ecstatic and hits his ceiling we would have the best center spine in fact with looking at the future outlook after this draft the sabres could boast potentially the best forward group in the nhl

Does wood/barlow remind anyone else of jason robertson?

I wasn’t taking it as you think it’s a bad thing. It’s not like you said he reminds you of Adam Lowry

For those that do want us to draft ASP - why?

I think he’s a good player who would be a terrible fit here. A smaller, offensive defenseman who excels on the PP is just not a fit here. I don’t see a scenario where somebody other than Dahlin/Power is the QB of the PP for the next decade. So we’re left putting a square peg in a round hole.

Leonard but he's going to be gone.

We just need one of these to go to every team drafting ahead of us if they think about drafting him:

Curious how you think Leonard compares to Cozens in his draft. They're likely different classes, right? I understand he's likely to be gone, I'm just fascinated by this player type in the modern game.

To me, grown-up Cozens is going to be the closest we get to a fast, big, strong, mean-for-2023 guy who can score 40, play all situations, and handle himself in a scrap. There aren't many guys in the league like that, or in this draft.

I see Leonard as a sort of modernized Ryan Callahan* - takes the body or gives up the body, very annoying to play against, burrows and bulls his way inside with and without the puck and has use as a committed PKer and 2-way player to go with an absolutely crackling finishing ability. I had doubts about Cozens as an NHL center and if he would be effective as he has shown to be - he's answered any concern I had going into the draft and then some - but I don't think of Leonard at center so much as a power winger.

*This is where I put the caveat that I hate direct player comparisons. :D

When I sim, I end up with this type of draft quite a bit:

13: Danielson
39: Rehkopf
45: Allen
86: Cleveland

I think it's pretty well balanced and a good BPA type draft.

What about Danielson? I liked that I read about him and watched the highlights of his game. I saw different comparisons, Lindholm, Gourde, Cirelli. Who does he look like to you?

From the Athletic mock, I would've done:

13 Oliver Moore
39 Caden Price
45 Jakub Dvorak
Like you said in the Roch thread, Adams is building for speed. Taking the consensus best skater in the draft is legit. I'd like to see a breakdown of Moore vs Perreault that handicaps which is more likely to close the gap on the other's skill/skating.

ASP reminds me of small Montour - lugs the mail from d-zone to o-zone and then it gets chaotic. If they think he's the best player at the spot, sure. It's not like teams haven't spun smaller PMD's into other trades (looking specifically at Brannstrom but also Durzi).

Who can we get to Rochester the quickest so I can watch them play on team vibes?

To go along with Musty or McCarthy as a possible local connection kid, I wonder if Jak Vaarwerk could be on their radar as an OA. He's heading to UMass-Lowell, had a solid USHL season for Des Moines.

They will have plenty of other options. I just like Perrault more for the Sabres than others do.

Personally, I am hoping for Willander or Simashev if things go roughly the way a lot expect in the top 12.

Why does EP belong among those elite shooters, I dont see it; he hasnt even scored 40 yet.
