It'll be hard to f*** up their pick. Stramel is really the only guy I absolutely do not want.
Danielson, Perreault, Brindley, and Stenberg would all be home runs in the 20's, though I wager the last two aren't Drury type picks and are unlikely to be taken by the Rangers.

I think Wood, Barlow, Musty, But, Stramel, and Strbak on defense all scream Rangers picks to me.

If the Rangers keep their second (I hope, I hope!!!) I’d much prefer to go forward first, defenseman second. Better value play, More offense available in the first round.
I'd be happy with a Simashev

I doubt it happens but from what I've read/seen Danielson would be a dream

Brindley is 100000% a Drury pick.

He reminds me quite a bit of Drury himself.

I hope so. He's very dynamic and would be a change of pace from the Rangers' MO of a safe, two way North American player in the late 1st round. Brindley is more of a passer and Drury more of a shooter in his playing days, but the similarities are there.

Re-Brindley:

Don't know if I want a playmaker and quite severly undersized, but hot damn... can't deny the offensive skill.
Kid's got sick mitts.

Zuccarello-ish to me. Can't say anything as to Drury comparisons. I only saw the late years of ass, with us.

I actually think he's pretty safe. The motor and willingness to go into the tough areas and come out ahead are already pretty top notch, that will play at any level.

He has a legitimate top 6 ceiling to go along with that. I think he's probably played himself out of range for us but if hes there, I'd be pretty floored if he weren't our guy.

Does it make sense to move into top 10 using Kaapo and our 1st?

As if Kakko isn't worth a top 10 pick on his own. Not top 5 rn, but that proposal is just laughable.
Cheech, like Cheech and Chong?

We should be fine where we are picking. We will almost certainly move up a bit, to grab our guy.

I see couple of duds or 2nd rd talent let's say, that are in the top 20. We could end up with a gem.

Started watching some tape, only 15 guys maybe though.

Gabe Perrault is rated a bit low, with a late 1st projection imo. Benson and Danielson too high.

Anyone else surprised the Rangers haven't announced any NCAA FA signings?
I've heard several commentators says that the NCAA FA list is weaker this year. I've heard no rumors on the Rangers and in the Athletic Arthur Staple said he had heard nothing.

On the other hand if you were an older free agent looking for your best chance to get to the NHL are you looking at the Rangers? The Ranger goalie pipeline is large with Garand already taking the prospect slot in Hartford, Trouba, Fox and Schneider locking in for several years at right defense, Panaran, Kreider and Lafrenierre established as left wing, Zibanijad, Trocheck and Chytil (assuming he resigns) established at center, three young left handed defenseman in Hartford. Maybe if I'm a right wing I see an opportunity. But otherwise I don't think the Rangers can offer the opportunities that several other teams can offer.

When I went to the CHL Top Prospects game all excited to see Bedard, Sawchyn completely stole the show. Was the best and most noticeable player and it wasn’t even remotely close. Then I checked HF and there were barely any posts about him, couldn’t believe it. Seems to be in a smaller role on a stacked team so is undervalued I think

Last Year Brendan Clark was on Matt Crasa at U Mass Lowell. They might have even made an offer. I believe he won Freshman of the year or was in the top percent there.

New Regime came in. Brendan Clarke i believe got the boot.

This year Crasa had the sophmore slump. Production fell off quite a bit. Still plenty of time there. Hes only a Sophmore. Long Island kid, from Setauket.

i see this differently.
no team avoids injury. every team makes trades.
If I am RHD i look at NYR and see Emberson as the only pro system depth
If i am 'an older free agent' G, i see younger guy Garand in the queue but not dominating
If I am a C, i see no obvious heir apparent behind the established 3
even at Wing, teams dress 8 for 82 games, there's gonna be opportunities

if afraid to compete, or earn it, not the most tempting guy to sign

Anyone else have suspicions this may be another case of a guy benefitting from being more mature than his peers? Like this is way more than Laf-level, this guy looked 35 at 16.

Because he can grow a beard? The size thing is not really a factor in the NCAA because there are guys playing in that league who are 24.

Plus he's 6'2" and has been listed anywhere between 190-195 which isn't physically mature by any stretch. Not Kravtsov level emaciated but he's far from the hulk.

I was on board with him as well.

Then draft his teammate Nico Myatovic in the 3rd round. Let them gain some insane chemistry together for a couple years in the WHL then come up to the AHL together.

Not just his beard, he's considered someone with great overall physicality and a very developed/polished prospect; and even aside from his beard he looks way more mature than his age. Not saying he's gonna bust as I know his numbers are insane but I wonder if teams do take it into account when comparing him to other guys projected to go top 5 who may be seen as having more room to develop. I get the NCAA goes up older than junior leagues but the guys still hanging around at 24 aren't very high end. The top guys are out of there by 21. Top 5 scorers on his team ages for instance: 18, 19, 20, 19, 18

He was also less than a month away from being a 2022 draft eligible, similar to how Laf was (birthdays 1 day apart)
