And then it collapses in the playoffs like clockwork.

If you're still defending this lineup at this point, there's nothing left you can see to convince you otherwise.
The Yankees lineup may not be perfect (especially without DJ and Benny), but you're acting like Houston did THAT much better than the Yankees tonight. The pitching on both sides was fine, Houston just got 1-2 more long ball home run shots that were the difference. And one thing I will say about that is, Schmidt needs to be shot into the sun. He always craps the bed in high-leverage pressure situations from what I've seen. I was shocked he got that DP before the next inning where he crapped out.

It's been six years of "Houston just did this; Houston just did that." We can't beat them and we just pretend it's luck.

It's the same attitude Cashman has.

The Yankees would have beaten them in 2017 without the cheating, but let's not just get started on that.

Point is, most of the games in the playoffs against them have typically been close. And this series isn't over yet. I pegged game 1 as a loss. Taillon didn't look as good as his stats indicate tonight either, the Astros hit him hard - but just got unlucky with most of the balls going right into the outfielder's gloves.

It's close most of the times the Yankees beat the Twins too.

The Astros are better than us.

The Yankees strike out way too much and there's too many guys in the lineup where you just switch over to the Rangers when they come up. It's a freezing cold take.

The biggest culprit that stands out to me is Donaldson. He's in the lineup every day, he bats 5th every day, and he's just a black hole.

He's right behind the guys the other team pitches around, he's constantly up there with men on, and he doesn't even have competitive at-bats. I don't think he has a hit off of decent pitching all year.

If you want him in there because he's good at third, first of all, drop him down. Not to mention IKF is just as good at third and at least puts a ball in play now and then. A weak IKF chopper gets a run in in the 3rd inning where Donaldson struck out on three pitches.

Rub this on your chest

The Yankees have now played eight games against the Astros in 2022, and this is what the Yankees’ offense has done in those games:

June 23: No-hit for seven innings, 10 strikeouts
June 24: One run
June 25: No-hit, 15 strikeouts
June 26: No-hit for 6 1/3 innings
June 30: One run, 11 strikeouts
July 21: Two runs
July 21: Five runs off a starter who isn’t in the Astros’ playoff rotation and a reliever who is no longer in the majors, 10 strikeouts
October 19: 16 batters retired in a row from third inning until eighth inning, 17 strikeouts

Agree 100%.The Astros and everyone else knows this and will risk pitching around the big bats in front of him just to get him up.Hell, move Bader or even IKF to the 5 hole.I have more confidence in them to put a ball in play over Donaldson.I really hope Boone shows some balls and makes the moves that need to be made.Get the kids in the lineup and stick Donaldson on the bench

Boone & Cashman are gonna wake-up today and say we like Donaldson last ab “ real gritty “
He’s about to break out …

And he’ll be in again

We need 2-3 more LeMahieus in the lineup.

It's dumbfounding how Peraza is getting Kakko'd

Boone on Kay - snapping and defensive… jump at Kay for questioning Carpenter.
Sounded like a guy who knows he’s gone if he loses.

Bet the House on the Yankees tonight… 8 to 6- 6 to 5 - something along those lines…
I walked the dog counter clockwise today. I only pull that maneuver when completely desperate the last time I did it Panerin scored the winner in overtime against the Penguins in the playoffs you’re welcome.
