I'm going to the Mets game in DC on 8/1. Probably Soto's last game as a Nat, and a possibility he plays the next night in a Mets uniform.

I am floored how many Mets fans actually think this is possible lol.

I will personally send you a Soto Mets Jersey if this happens but I'm very confident that the Nats are not trading him in the division.

Please let me have my dream. It's all I've got. But if it comes to fruition, I will come knocking for my jersey.

I feel the Mets need a #5 hitter behind Alonso, and I don't think Vogelbach is the answer.

Naquin gives another lefty OF bat. Maybe they don't want to use McNeil out there as much and keep him at 2nd. Guillorme has been struggling and Escobar has been brutal left handed.

I'm all for analytics and new age ideas, but Kyle Schwarber batting leadoff with a .307 OBP is where I officially draw the line.

You buggin.

"He gets more at-bats!" For what, solo homers?

Ohtani or Soto? Preference? Potential cost?
My preference is re-sign Aaron Judge.

Unless you're talking about the Mets, in which case, Ohtani.

deGrom, Scherzer, Ohtani.

If that rotation can't win a World Series, I don't know what you'd need to do to win one.

Feel like that is a move the Cardinals make.

I get the value of Ohtani's 2 way prowess but are people aware of how good Soto is?

His bat is generational. This is the best young player who has become available since Miguel Cabrera and their careers have been to this point, very similar.

For me it's Soto with no question. Ohtani is great, but I'd wager that he'll stop pitching once that UCL goes kaput (and he's already throwing with a partial tear.) He's a very good hitter too, but he's not Soto and he's also what, 5 years older?

Looks like the Mets may not sign Sproat (their 3rd rounder). Parada and the rest of their top 10, though, expected to sign right now.

Yep, the Mets have to go for Ohtani if he's available. We have the firepower to get it done.

Meant for both teams. Resign Judge due to lack of asset cost?

Can't win without a bullpen.
Don't need need a top bullpen though with those starters. Mets are already a top NL bullpen I believe. Good D, decent offense, decent BP + a solid closer should get it done if you trot out those 3 starters.

Yankees in on Noah Syndergaard

“The Yankees are casting a wider net for starters, and no surprise, they are in on Frankie Montas as well. Luis Castillo seems to be their first choice, however. Noah Syndergaard is running third. Scouts think his stuff is “a little down” from his Mets days. Jose Quintana is also high on their list. … The Dodgers, along with the Yankees, have seemed like favorites for Castillo, with Houston said to be lurking. … The Padres and Rangers seem like logical landing spots for Joey Gallo, who’s being shopped. The Yankees are hoping to receive a prospect back. Some believe he will regain form once he’s in a new locale. … The Yankees are trying to deal Miguel Andujar, who requested a trade. They don’t mind having him .”

I'm glad you're coming around to my dream of Soto protecting Alonso as the #5 bat.

Scherzer left the game with a 2-0 lead against the Yanks. Two batters later it was tied. And don't tell me you weren't concerned when Diaz showcased his fielding prowess that game. Lugo has continued to be horrific and outside Diaz (and maybe Ottavino), the Mets just traded away their best performing reliever.
