im more worried about the Panthers forcheck than meaningless deciphering of terrible and bad. this is when the real season starts

Translation: I'm bored with this discussion and people are being mean to me.

We can't control the Panthers forecheck or how the Bruins play it, but we can spend the next 3 days deciphering the difference between terrible, bad, and tough.

Welcome to the internet!

If the Panthers were as formidable as many here are making them out to be they would have clinched a playoff spot before Tuesday
"Penguins are not your typical 8 seed with Sid and Malkin"
"Isles are not your typical 8 seed with Sorokin"

8 seeds are that way for a reason. Doesn't mean that can't win, but to say "I hope we can win a game 7 against them" is just mindboggling to me.

Fake news. Fanatics made a commemorative puck celebrating it.

I think its a bad matchup. if you remove the black and gold goggles you understand the Panthers are not a typical 8th seed. Theyll try to hit Pastrnak all series and your favorite pkayer Krejci will need to be 2011 like

I don't expect you to reply to this but if the Panthers want to forecheck heavy than fine. The Bruins mobile D will mitigate that and a heavy forecheck also means more odd-man rushes the other way and more scoring opportunities for Bruins. There are pros and cons no matter what strategy is employed. Teams that forecheck heavy are hard on their own D-men. Florida's D will be forced to defend more off-the-rush when they get outmanned on a failed forecheck as their supporting forwards are caught deep in the Bruins zone.

Honestly the opposite would scare me more......an 8th seed that sits back all game and waits to pounce on opportunities while praying their AHL goaltender doesn't give up a soft one forcing them to open up, hoping the Bruins forwards get frustrated. We've seen that show before.

lemme take care of those who are being mean, I`m likely the best internet tough guy so please allow me:)

I think the games will be close and the Panthers won`t be blown out but our boys depth will simply prove too much.

I also think it will take us likely 3-4 minutes into game 1 to hate Gudas and Tkachuk, Panthers had a chance to avoid the B`s and laid a stinker on home ice, zero guts in that locker room

Still would hate to see them lose at home there very first game.
A sick, twisted part of me is very curious to see the massive overreaction on this board if we lose Game 1. I know that's messed up, but its the truth.

That said, a team with Alex Lyon in goal, and Paul Maurice behind the bench, SHOULD not be a problem for this team. I've got Boston in 5 but I'm mentally prepared to go 7.

Bruins in 6 because I don’t want to get too cocky.

I think the PP will be fine as they’ve shown recently that they are actually capable of moving both with and without the puck. Plus Pasta’s on one of his streaks when he hits the net consistently. Some of ‘em will go in.

Sure, teams can beat us in a game or two, but it’s going to be a very tall order taking 4 out of 7 from us.

Go Bruins!!!!

The NHL created the President's Trophy in 1985-86. All else being equal, over the course of 36 seasons, each of the 32 seeds should have won the Cup 1.125 times. The President's Trophy winner has won 8 times, far and away the most likely seed to win the Cup.
Even cutting in half and factoring in only playoffs teams, it’s still roughly 4x

Panthers will be a tough out but historically, they haven't won a playoff series in almost 30 years.

The NHL created the President's Trophy in 1985-86. All else being equal, over the course of 36 seasons, each of the 16 seeds should have won the Cup 2.25 times. The President's Trophy winner has won 8 times, far and away the most likely seed to win the Cup.
I wish this myth would go away. But people who don't understand statistics often compare those 8 wins against the 28 wins each other seed combined has and come to the conclusion it's cursed.

I just don't understand how you could look at each team's roster and body of work over an 82-game season and truly believe that the Bruins are going to lose in a 7-game series. It defies logic.

It's not going to be an easy series, there is no such thing as an easy series in the playoffs. But to claim that the Panthers should win is bananaland and reeks of contrarianism and desire to be "right" should the unlikely occur.

Bs in 5, just because I don't want to jinx them by saying it'll be a sweep.

FLA gives up more goals than any playoff team. They have a coach who gets less out of more extremely well. Will they truly have any "home" games? Bs DIFF is 6x that of FLA.

Normally I would be finding all the ways the Bs could lose a playoff series. I've searched high and low concerning this series and can find nothing.

Just like the final stretch of the season, winning isn't a concern, it'll happen. Just stay healthy for the second round.
