Series Talk: 2023 ECQF - BOSTON BRUINS (A1) vs Florida Panthers (WC2)

Bruins obviously deeper with better goaltending, so the B's should handle them. But Florida still has some weapons to address so the series doesn't go longer than it should.
Barkov is big, skilled, underrated, and in his prime. Tkachuk 109 pts. Verhaeghe 73 pts, Montour on D also had 73 pts which is 20 pts more than the top Bruin D, even with Montgomery's new offensive D style. Staal while older another big body and still seems to dominate faceoffs when he wants to. Add in that Gudas is guaranteed to run somebody and I'll be very interested how the first couple games play out.

Never said that either. I disagree with your opinion, which I can handle just fine. I also disagree with some other predictions in here. Just yours stands out the most for me to want to comment.

I mean...you replied to my post and said you disagree with it. That is generally what happens when you post your opinion/predictions here, people either agree or don't and let you know.

I am being conservative saying 6, but realistically it's probably 5.

FLA offense is scary good, but the defense is mediocre and their goaltending is atrocious, despite Lyon stringing together a nice little run. "Playoff Bob" isn't a thing anymore, and frankly hasn't been since the CBJ series against Tampa.

Bruins in 6. Why? Because the Bruins have this unfortunate tendency to play down to their opponents (see last night's game). I can easily see them looking ahead to Round 2 while they should be paying attention to Florida.

Goaltending definitely should be a big advantage for the Bruins ,but regular season and playoffs sometimes can be a different ball game ,although doubtful that both Bruins goalies could struggle.

Last year in the playoffs, the Panthers were accused of playing a soft game after TB used physical play to run them outta the building.

What has changed?

Please don't say Paul Maurice.

Matthew Tkachuk? His playoff numbers are mediocre compared to his regular seasons. There is misconception that he's a really physical player. He's not his father nor his brother in that respect.

Other than that, this is the same fast but soft team that got a President's trophy wining coach fired so they could hire Mr. Mediocre Paul Maurice.

Exactly, less depth this year up front (No Giroux or Marchment) and on the back-end. Lost Weegar who was arguably Calgary's best D-man in the 2nd half.

I don’t understand all the trepidation about this series, by game 4 it will be all but over.

Bruins will smoke them, there is no evidence or reason to think otherwise. If they have trouble in round one with FLA, there is no way they go deep.
