Forbort guards well in front of the net! That’s where the play is going to end up. So… to me start there and work your way out to other things, etc. We can have all our D making nice first passes, transition and retrieve just fine, but then give up softies like we don’t even exist in front of the net, where it becomes a battle, and where boxing out and tying up sticks is crucial, blocking shots, etc. Forbort doesn’t “puck watch” too much out front. He letting the goalie try to make saves and smother the puck. Goalies would rather have D do all this than to pick off passes, etc. To suggest that the play will “never have the puck” in our zone and out front is not realistic. It’s going to happen.
Forbort gives up more shot attempts and more good shot attempts than anyone. He doesn’t actually guard well in front of the net. This is just a fallacy based on the fact that Grizz is short. It’s tiresome.

Remember the last time our captain was sick to start a postseason run

The stats and facts don’t matter in the Forbort/gryz debate to a lot of people.

Forbort = big and strong
Gryz = small and soft

Forbot was getting heavy defensive zone starts against Carolina playing with Clifton(what was not nearly as good as this years version) and was only a -1 at ES with a 92.2 oiSv%. Grzlecyk was getting much more sheltered starts and was -6 with a putrid 78.9% oiSv% playing with Mcavoy and brought zero offense to make up for shortcomings defensively.

Gryz also played that series with a big injury against tougher competition.

He’s been much better than Forbort this season outside of the PK. He also won’t need to play against the tougher competition with Orlov in the mix.

I don’t think you get that using the oiSV% is making the point against Forbort. And I noticed you didn’t use on ice shooting percentage either.

Did you consider Grizz having a 57.4% xGF while Forbort had a 34.7%? Or did you watch the game 5v5 when Forbort was getting targeted on every entry and absolutely caved in?

While the above is probably true, Gryz is a far superior facilitator and helps the offense immensely. Forbort really doesn’t do anything

Forbort kills penalties well. That’s his value. Gryz is better at everything else.

I just don't understand how you could look at each team's roster and body of work over an 82-game season and truly believe that the Bruins are going to lose in a 7-game series. It defies logic.

It's not going to be an easy series, there is no such thing as an easy series in the playoffs. But to claim that the Panthers should win is bananaland and reeks of contrarianism and desire to be "right" should the unlikely occur.

im not sure if i love you more for your shortrib pasta or for your use of the word bananaland

Would anyone want Forbort on a big PK over Orlov or Lindholm? Because I don’t know how one could make that case - and that ignores the other 54 minutes or so of each game.

Orlov, lindholm, McAvoy and carlo probably should all pk over him. But he is better at it than clifton and gryz.

There is no point for him when Lindholm and orlov do it better is my point

And Mac and Carlo

I think we’re talking about lefthanders obviously.

If Orlov or Lindholm get hurt then Forbort would slot in and cover the PK. Otherwise he should be on the 9th floor because of how he plays 5v5
