Our scouting team can't quite determine where this young prospect's floor may end up being, but we know that his ceiling is through the roof. The Columbus Blue Jackets are proud to select from the Portland Winter Hawks, LD Luca Cagnoni.

Chicago @Pompeius Magnus is on the clock
Omg, I read Luca Cagnoni but its Pinelli that was picked ... F ME.

What a steal you just got!

With pick #66, the Chicago Blackhawks select, from the USNTDP, goaltender Trey Augustine.

''In a class of highly technical and composed goalies, Augustine is second to none in those aspects. His movements are fluid and his body remains compact, taking the most efficient routes to get to pucks. He tracks pucks well, transitioning between techniques with ease '' .

2. Adam Fantilli (C) - U of Michigan (NCAA)
28.Ethan Gauthier (RW) - Sherbrooke Phoenix (QMJHL)
34. Caden Price (LD) - Kelowna Rockets (WHL)
46. Kasper Halttunen (RW) - HIFK (Liiga)
57. Jordan Tourigny (RD) - Shawinigan Cataracts (QMJHL)
60. Beau Akey ( RD) - Barrie Colts ( OHL)
66. Trey Augustin (G) - USNTDP ( USHL)

are we going the full 7 rounds? I’ll be fine for 3 but after that I’ll need a longer prospect list. Anyone got links to share?

We always do all 7. There's a link to NHL Central Scouting's mid-term rankings on the 1st page.

At the site, there's links to 4 documents: NHL NA Skaters (almost 200 names), NHL International Skaters, NHL NA Goalies, NHL International Goalies.

Pretty much everyone who's available to be drafted is on one of those lists.

With the 67th pick, the Nashville Predators select from the Seattle Thunderbirds...center Gracyn Sawchyn.

After putting up impressive point totals as an underager in the US-NTDP program last year, Sawchyn has produced a point per game in the WHL this season despite playing a third line center role and limited PP time on a stacked Thunderbirds forward group.

Nope. He just kept not getting picked. This is why I've been shouting since Christmas that Montreal needs another late 1st, another 2nd & another 3rd. They can give up their extra 4ths & 5ths to try to move up.
Sawchyn is listed at #80 on McKenzie's list. This surprises me given that Sawchyn's been a known commodity for a while. It's not like any of the scouts/execs in his poll are sandbagging on a hidden gem.

Probably because he's on an extremely deep team.

Some may harbor lingering feelings about how he left the US junior development program. Going into the season with Seattle, the thought has always been that this kid could be something special.

Also he was the taken 1st overall in the WHL US priority draft by Red Deer and didn't sign with them. Maybe the Sutter brothers have dragged his name through the mud among the NHL's old boys network.
