Montreal Canadiens select Aydar Suniev (LW) from Penticton Vees of the BCHL.
A really good pick actually. I think he has NHL upside. There's tools here including a quality wrist shot. He drives the puck to the inside, and generally has strong work habits. He's also 6'2, 205. He's a freight train once up to speed, but needs to work on his overall skating strength & balance.
He's a big scoring winger from Russia who is slated to go to University of Massachusetts 24-25. Not sure what his plans are for next season, but he's having a strong year on a pretty stacked Penticton team.
I would be very happy if we get him with this pick in actual draft.
