He absolutely could, the coach just doesn't want to send him down. He is supposedly playing tonight for the first time in (I think?) 8 games.

EDIT EDIT: Did not play tonight apparently.
I could see not sending him back to MHL. But why not VHL? That’s a bit goofy.

He played in the VHL today (first game back), no points. Prospect Ilya Fedotov scored in the K against Brandon Gormley’s team Sochi. Brandon’s head coach is ex-Coyote Andrei Nazarov.
Ah. Makes sense.

I get where you're coming from but he might be a Bedard level player.

I would pick him no lower than 4th.

At some point I have to balance the baggage of a potential star against where I might draft him. Maybe BA feels like the kid would be worth it. I don't think so, but I'm not the one making the draft calls.

CBJ won at least. PHI getting a loser point helps. I know we just won two but its a looooong season and we will only get worse on paper.
For sure part of the reason I want Chychrun gone asap. Having a top 3 pick in 2023 would be huge for us.

If the ducks unload their top players before we do we will never catch them for last spot. We need to beat them to the punch. I think we have too good a coach to keep all these good players. But the funny thing is someone said before the start of the season this was the worst team on paper that the NHL had ever had.

We are overachieving. Part of it is the coaching staff and the work ethic this team plays with. Part of it is shooting percentage being better than it should have been at times. And part of it is having a goalie who is playing much better than he should he statistically speaking. He’s playing at a Vezina caliber level.

I agree. We got a keeper with this coach. If we had paused the rebuild for this season (for shits and giggles)and brought in a few decent players instead of the garbage, we could have possibly made the playoffs with this coach, chemistry and goaltending. It's an odd season.

Those are good points. I don't get how we have such a high shooting percent average and Vej has been fantastic. I am surprised no one has come calling for him. or maybe we just have not heard they are.

And hasn't it been said that the game is not played on paper?
Indeed :)

Trading Vejmelka would just be a dagger in the back to loyal soldiers like Keller, Crouse and Tourigny. It would have to be one heck of an offer to not only receive proper value for Vejmelka but also to be worth a fairy likely public trade demand from Keller.

Anaheim doesn't really have anything to trade. They are what they are.

Klingberg has underperformed statistically. They can get some picks for him, Shattenkirk, and Kulikov, but there is nothing else to buy.

Reminder too that it is still a lottery.

I spun the wheel and Philly won 1st overall and Chicago won 2nd overall. Seems like an NHL lottery outcome. Yotes 6th in what I like to call Big Willy Style.

For the avatar and thread jokes alone getting Will Smith would be great.
I would not be mad at having a second Logan Cooley. I was thinking the other day, what would be better than having Logan Cooley in the prospect pool? The answer, of course, is having another Logan Cooley in the prospect pool. That’s Will Smith.
