Some team is going to be so lucky to get King Leo

Man would I be thrilled if we landed him.

If the lottery was tomorrow, we’d have the 8th best odds (based on P%) because we best NSH (7th) on a ROW tiebreaker.

Stop it, it's only halfway through November! haha. We just lost two in a row. How many PP chances did we have vs NYR? We should be winning games like that with how good the powerplay has been. I think regression is coming.

Are you that you DON’T want daily draft lottery updates from me for the next 67 games?!?!? Well, I am shocked and dismayed!!! Haha. :)

With Will Smith dominating at the 5 nations, adding to his incredible production for the US18s so far, we suddenly have yet another entrant into the “is this guy as good as Slafkovsky, Cooley, and Wright?” category. Or at least another “Is this guy better than Gauthier, Kasper, and Savoie?” category.

There’s 4 kids well above both tiers. And there may be as many as 10 in that 2nd tier.

Watching this draft class continue to improve, becoming inconceivably strong, while also watching the Coyotes play the most enjoyable hockey they’ve played in a decade, is making for a very hopeful start to this season.

Even better news, is that if we’re able to acquire more 1sts, that should help us lose more games and get a better first pick!

For what it’s worth, Chris Peters said on his podcast today he has Will Smith (currently 8 on his list) too low. He admits he should have had him in the second tier with the likes of Leo. It’s early, but he’s putting up close to historic Jack Hughes numbers.

I’ve had croissants that weren’t as buttery as that goal… The move is cool and all but that release afterwards was filthy. Pulled it and paused for a split second enough to freeze the goalie. He had that spot picked before he even got across the blueline. Next level IQ and hands.

Pronman is really shaking things up this year with his preliminary top 33. Notable rankings include:

5. Will Smith
9. David Reinbacher
10. Daniil But
11. Nate Danielson
12. Zach Benson
13. Dmitri Simashev
17. Cal Ritchie
18. Charlie Stramel
24. Kasper Halttunen
25. Samuel Honzak
27. Lukas Dragicevic
29. Maxim Strbak
30. Koehn Ziemmer
31. Ethan Gauthier
33. Andrew Cristall

Notable absences:

Riley Heidt, Hunter Brzustewicz, Quentin Musty

Carlsson has to be considered #2 by some scouts at this point right? Is there any chance he could be considered #1 if he has a complete outlier season?

Cameron Allen and Matthew Wood are the two biggest shockers as to how low they are. I think both guys end up being drafted towards the back end of the lottery.
Allen isn’t getting a whole lot of love from Brock Otten. Other media scouts are putting more and more blueliners ahead of him, too. Could be a Chychrun situation.

All 3 guys are having great seasons, but it will go Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson and it should and I if I'm the Coyotes, I don't care which one I get as long as I get 1 of them.
Would be awesome to get any of these three.

Cooley gets a 5 min major and i think he’s kicked out of game.
Made a sick pass in the 1st on a 2 on 1 that should’ve been a goal.

Also turned over the puck on a couple of zone entries….every game I see him play he does so once or twice.

Serves a 5 minute major and then comes out of the box to assist in the go-ahead goal. That’s a BA player.

What I’m seeing from Cooley is that he’s very raw. The skill is there, for sure, but he needs a lot of refinement. Too much trying to deke 3 guys at once and making blind passes that get picked off. There’s a lot of times where he tries some cool move and you’re like “man if that worked it would’ve been awesome”! But instead he got picked off. It’s like he’s close to being dominant but he’s got work to do before he gets there.
