I hope in the later rounds we draft some big, nasty, physcotic thug to take care of the Ryan Reeves’s of the world. If he owns skates that’s even better
Connor Bedards bodyguard?

Even Zegras moved his feet more in his draft year though. I'm not denying the skill, but that only gets you so far at the next level.

More Smith highlights here.

OK skating, good stickhandler, very smart passing and puck patience.

The question is does the raw smarts and skill make up for the lack of speed and hustle? Case A: Perron.

The difference is Perron battles and does skate hard. He’s just slow now.

A player can be an average skater or even below average if they put in an A+ effort like Robertson, Perron and other guys that aren’t great skaters. You can have all the skill in the world but no Compete level and work ethic and you’ve got Alexander Daigle.

Anyone able to explain why Felix Nilsson doesn’t get more love on these boards?

I’m leaning towards winger Colby Barlow at the moment. I would like a centre in which case it would be Ritchie or Benson. Unfortunately all these guys are in my top ten right now and would have to drop

Jacob Fowler has had kind of a down year statistically, but if I could get him in round 3 or 4, I would probably take a flier on him.
Where would you slot Fowler compared to the three goalies playing for the USA in the WJC (Mbereko, Augustine and Oke)?

A draft prospect who has impressed me in the current tournament (other than the obvious ones) is Gavin Brindley. Small, but tenacious, fast, skilled. He's been a lot more impressive than his Michigan teammate, Fantilli.

I agree that they need to have above average engagement off of the puck, but I think IQ is even more important for below average skaters. Robertson and Pavelski have it going on between the ears. If they couldn't read the play the way that they do, they would be fringe NHLers.

If we draft somewhere around 8-14, I would love to get Moore or Sale. (I'm also really intrigued by Musty)

If we get a little lottery luck, would love to get one of Dvorsky, Smith, or Yager.

I think I am a little hesitant on taking Benson/Cristall from a fit perspective, even though I really like both of those players.

I think I'm a little lower on Moore than most people. What stands out about him to you?

I think I'm going for Sale at our probable range and Yager if we get lucky right now.

Elite skating center that I think has underrated offense and a good all-around game.

With the obvious exception of Bedard, who is the best righty center out there that isn't toddler sized?

Dont sleep on defenseman Axel Sandin Pellikka. Skilled guy, has a good shot. Smart passer. Really good skater. Fits all the boxes of Yzerman. Yes, he is a defenseman, but his potential is a good 2nd pair guy on the left side. Have him going mid 1st round.

We have not drafted any 5'11 defenseman in the first 2 rounds under Yzerman... or at all?

He's also a RHD.
