With this decision Kari ended for me. Hope we dont make the qf this year and he gets fired.
I don't agree with this decision but it is a coach's responsibility. When I was watching the game, it was apparent Svozil has some deficit in strength, but I liked his passes and vision. However, if the team makes a success in the tournament, I won't complaint.

It turned out exactly as I feared. He probably thinks that Svozil is not yet fully ready to play against men. I'm sorry, but I can't blame him.

I would've liked to see him get more games and practice time to be honest. I don't mind the cut per se but this seems sudden. Did he hit on Kari's wife or something?lol

I think our Finn coach is trying to recreate what the other Finn coach does so well. I think his dream would be to take an all Extraliga team and win the whole thing. I could be wrong but I get that vibe. The guys we complain about - Kempny, Jordan, Hrubec are probably his favorite players.

No sorry no, this is absolutely stupid move! ... who do we get?? I would not complain if we have Hronek, Klok and Rutta in the team for example. But Svozil was one of the few we had who could make a difference,

Who we will play with? Jordan, Scotka? Kundratek, Dvorak? Dont get me laugh. Yeah they are enough when we play agains Germany or Austria. But against Finland, Sweden, Canada, they are just not good enough and we gonna again lose those games, cause we gonna have weak D ....

If we dont get past QF he should resign. Cause he is making one stupid decision after another this year.

Sorry man, but for example Dvořák is definitely more ready to play teams like Sweden than Svozil (as by now). I would like to see Svozil here, but it was also apparent today he has problems with physicality even vs. Austria. I could imagine him as a 7th defenseman or so, I would give him another chance at the Czech Hockey Games if I was on the coach's position, but the coach decided this way. Being a junior hockey star and playing mature, experienced pros are two different things. Let's give Svozil one more year to grow stronger.

I wouldn't hate Svozil getting cut as much if we weren't nearly guaranteed Jordan and Scotka on the squad. Jordan in particular I can't stand at this point, just retire already, apparently that's the only way we can get rid of him from the national team.

I'm 100 percent certain that no one will like the final D selection.

I'm also 100 percent certain it won't be very good no matter who they pick.

We are thin on D.. pathetically thin and losing Hronek, Klok, Simek and Rutta hurts a lot. Gudas without contract.

All that is left are Kral, Galvas, Zboril and Hajek.

Yeah so hyped to see Dvorak, Scotka and Jordan getting destroyed by Canada cause they just cant keep the pace. But yeah they are ready.

Not to mention that Svozil flew across half of the world for one match... like seriously? He didnt even got a proper chance.

I once praised Moravčík here (before that he played well in a previous championship), only to be bad and make big mistakes in the next championship. I hope it won't be the same with Kundrátek. I didn't see Kundrátek play properly all year, but sorry, last years he was the best defender in the league and in any case he did not disappoint even in the national team. I agree with the rest. However, Svozil still has time, and probably based on how he appeared in training, they concluded that he is not yet ready for men's hockey. And Dvořák is one of the strongest defenders in the league, in this respect he is far better than Svozil.

What we have left...

Lukas Jasek and some guys from Extraliga finals are still in play.

Maybe an NHLer after the Game 7's coming up.

I think Kari has a plan... I also think I don't really like it but we will see how the actual games go.
Worth repeating.. NO ONE has a really strong roster so far.

This may honestly be the weakest team we brought since maybe ever to WCH.

I'm really rooting for the Bruins to advance. But if they were to drop out, I would of course take Zboril in addition to the attackers, when I see the list... And I have no idea what's going on with Galvas and Král...

Calder Cup (AHL) playoffs... Sustr is also around.lol

I don't know why some guys here are hating Dvořák. He's physically strong, reliable, solid skating. Wouldn't be surprised if he makes the final roster. The same case: David Němeček. Košťálek was looking great in both games vs. Austria. Really good with the puck. I expect Kučeřík to be the next cut. He is OK, no big mistakes from him, just not very creative nor any big stay-at-home guy. Not sure about Jordán. He is still in a very good physical shape, winning battles along the boards, but also looking somewhat burnt out, often unfocused on the ice.

I was impressed Kucerik is still around! Good sign. He was a nice surprise at a U20 one year with Klikorka.. who I lvoed in one tourney. Then he came back and sucked and I actually don't even know hwere he is today.lol

Ok, googled it.. Czech2. So definitely great progress for Kucerik!

I know nothing about Dvorak. LIke any coach, I think Jalonen has a type he is looking for. I think, like most coaches, he prefers vets too. We will see!

Hope you had a good time in Brno!

Yeah, Brno was cool as always. :D

I assume Jalonen likes defensemen who are dominant in physical battles and have good positioning. He is apparently preferring a guy capable of "closing the boards" a outmuscling the opponent around over a smaller, agile, puck-moving D-man. I mean, he knows both are needed of course, but his ratio is something like 5 strong D-men who can defend 1 on 1, and 3 puck-moving ones, rather than vice versa.

I see this going 3 ways:

1. No one comes and we are all pissed
2. Pasta, Zboril, Zacha and Lauko come and we are all ecstatic
3. Zboril and a Lauko tryout

My hunch says Zboril and I welcome him with OPEN ARMS. He may not be a full time NHL player but I'm positive he'd be a great player in Europe and better than everything we have in Europe.

Krejci and Nosek don't have contracts so not counting on them.

And Pavel Francouz is available. It was mentioned earlier here that he'd be a great add. I totally agree. He's healthy, has a contract, been a good soldier for us and probably dying to play!

At the moment I don't really care if anyone comes. Boston and some players didn't deserve this.

Unless Kreijci is so disheartened by what happened after such an amazing season for the team that he decides to call it quits in Boston - so he won’t worry about a new contract - and opts to join the national team for one last hooray.

OK, that is completely unlikely but you never know. Right now I cannot imagine any of the Boston players wanting to play any more hockey at all for now. I am completely devastated for Pasternak & co, and I am just a fan sitting on his behind at home. Can’t even begin to imagine how depressed the players must be feeling.

They are professionals, I am sure they can put the disapointment behind quickly. Palat also came to WCH in 2019, when he was in similar situation with Tampa. I think this should not be such a problem.

I see the chances of the guys coming as follows:

Pasta 65-70% - Sure he must be extremely dissapointed not bringing home the cup after the amazing season he had, but he is also a big patriot a loyal heart and he generaly seems like a guy, who is just always hungry for more hockey. I believe, that if he is healthy he will come, but if he says no, its completely understandable and no one can say a word against it. He always come through for national team so far, so he has every right to just rest if he wants to.

Krejci 10% - without contract and he was injured during the series, so its very unlikely he will come. I give him 10% cause as you said, he is a 37yrs old veteran and a Boston legend and he is in a position, where he can just say "screw it, I dont care where I play next year, I just want to play with Pasta at WCH lol." But as I said its very unlikely.

Zacha 50% - He literally has no reason not to come this year lol, but we all know how it is with him and national team, so I dont hope for anything. I guess, that if Pasta comes, Zacha will too, but if not, then its really a 50/50 with him.

Zboril 80% - I am sure he will want to go, but the problem is if there will be an interest from our coach. And even if they want him, I am sure he will come to play in Brno and he will have to earn his spot in the final lineup.

Nosek 10% - Without contract, he probably wont want to risk it, but you never know.

Lauko 0% - I am sure he will be send back to Providence for AHL playoffs.

Francouz 50% - I really want him, he could be a really good duo with Vejmelka. but he was injured a lot also during ther season, so I dont know if the club will even release him.

As for the AHL guys I guess this is it and no one will come anymore sadly :( (maybe Galvas). The last match for Rochester is on 7.5. so Kulich and Rousek wont be available for Brno and I am pretty sure Kari wont take them straight to WCH. Same for Lauko and I worry also Galvas (althoug there is a small chance).

Man that AHL playoff format is so stupid lol, such a ridiculous gaps between the games ...
