This is usually a three-week commitment that requires you to check the thread almost daily. Do not sign up if you cannot commit to this. Two auto's and you will be relieved of your duties as GM.

We will use the authentic draft order based on points percentage as of March 30, 2023.

PHASE ONE: 2023 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
We will have a 7-round 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Picks: The draft clock will run from 8 a.m. to Midnight ET. Each pick will be 4-hours long. Once time is up on a pick, anyone can auto the pick. We auto 3 North Americans, then 1 European, from NHL Central Scouting's Final Rankings list. Goaltenders are NOT auto'd. Before any more picks are made, the GM can change the auto pick and not be charged with an auto. However, all auto picks are final once the next pick is made. No exceptions.

NOTE: All teams must have a minimum of FOUR and a maximum of TWELVE picks in any draft. The ONLY exception to this rule is if a real-life team currently holds fewer than four or more than twelve.

PHASE TWO: FREE AGENT FRENZY
You may NOT sign any pending UFA's (this includes Group 6 UFA's). Following the draft, there will be a UFA signing period. All UFA's are assumed to want to test free agency (this does not mean they won't re-sign with their old team). I will act as Universal Player Agent and weigh the role and salary offered from each team.

The Salary Cap will have a max of $83.5M and a floor of $62.2M.

NOTE: No trade can involve more than FIVE pieces on a side, or EIGHT pieces total. Also, if any player gets traded who absolutely wouldn't be (i.e. McDavid), the deal also gets vetoed automatically. Either GM can post the trade on the thread, but I need the other to confirm it. If the trade is borderline veto-worthy, PLEASE seek my approval first.

Traded picks are limited to 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Rosters: Please post your initial roster, and post an updated version when a trade is made. Always include Cap status. Rosters listed without scratches (since that would never happen) are not allowed.

After you pick, please PM the next GM to notify them! And POST THIS WITH YOUR PICK!!! If you cannot PM for whatever reason (i.e. on a phone), ASK SOMEONE TO PM in your post.

Please, do not announce trades until all teams have a GM.

Was Nadeau a good pick?

I liked the pick. He's boom bust for me, but he has legit offensive tools, including an elite release. My concern is that he essentially plays on a junior 'A' all star team, in a league that isn't as competitive as it usually is. He played with high end linemates all season. Penticton finished 50-3-1 on the year with a +208 goal differential. You can read into that two ways though. It's both a positive and a negative. He'd be on my list of most intriguing draft prospects

SABRES ACQUIRE BEAR FROM CANUCKS
June 29, 2023

NASHVILLE, TN - The Buffalo Sabres announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Ethan Bear from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenseman Henri Jokiharju.

The Sabres subsequently signed Bear to a 3-year extension worth $9 million.

Bear (5' 11", 197 lbs, 06.26.1997) comes to Buffalo following one season in Vancouver, where he appeared in 61 games. He previously spent one season in Carolina and parts of three seasons with the Edmonton Oilers. Prior to turning pro, Bear spent four seasons with the Western Hockey League's Seattle Thunderbirds. The Regina, Saskatchewan native was drafted in the fifth round, 124th overall by the Oilers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

"We are excited to welcome Ethan to our group," said the Sabres GM. "Ethan has consistently been a strong player in his own zone, something we have sought to improve this offseason. We wish Henri the best in Vancouver."

The 2023 NHL Entry Draft continues Thursday from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Buffalo's next selection is 89th overall, in the third round.

Steal of the draft
I feel like by 2027-28 the Kraken could be SC favorites.

Beniers/Wright/Ritchie down the middle. Two-four of Tolvanen/Lardis/Winterton/Nyman/Firkus in the top 9. Re-sign one or both of McCann/Burkovsky as veteran presence. Definitely a strong forward group.

Big thanks to @My Cozen Dylan for taking my list on what was a long and busy day.

You spoiled the trifecta. Seattle just drafted the # 1 and #2 from the CHL Top Prospect testing. I actually had Terrance as one of 3 possible players at 59.

Terrance and Lardis can both rip

You got him ahead of me last draft. I wanted to make sure it didn’t happen again. I’m a huge fan

Funny enough my 3 targets for this pick were Lardis, Rykov and Terrance. Lardis and Rykov go right before me. Thankfully I had Terrance as my top preference
