2023 7-Round Mock Draft 2.0

This is usually a three-week commitment that requires you to check the thread almost daily. Do not sign up if you cannot commit to this. Two auto's and you will be relieved of your duties as GM.

We will use the authentic draft order based on points percentage as of March 30, 2023.

PHASE ONE: 2023 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
We will have a 7-round 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Picks: The draft clock will run from 8 a.m. to Midnight ET. Each pick will be 4-hours long. Once time is up on a pick, anyone can auto the pick. We auto 3 North Americans, then 1 European, from NHL Central Scouting's Final Rankings list. Goaltenders are NOT auto'd. Before any more picks are made, the GM can change the auto pick and not be charged with an auto. However, all auto picks are final once the next pick is made. No exceptions.

NOTE: All teams must have a minimum of FOUR and a maximum of TWELVE picks in any draft. The ONLY exception to this rule is if a real-life team currently holds fewer than four or more than twelve.

PHASE TWO: FREE AGENT FRENZY
You may NOT sign any pending UFA's (this includes Group 6 UFA's). Following the draft, there will be a UFA signing period. All UFA's are assumed to want to test free agency (this does not mean they won't re-sign with their old team). I will act as Universal Player Agent and weigh the role and salary offered from each team.

The Salary Cap will have a max of $83.5M and a floor of $62.2M.

NOTE: No trade can involve more than FIVE pieces on a side, or EIGHT pieces total. Also, if any player gets traded who absolutely wouldn't be (i.e. McDavid), the deal also gets vetoed automatically. Either GM can post the trade on the thread, but I need the other to confirm it. If the trade is borderline veto-worthy, PLEASE seek my approval first.

Traded picks are limited to 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Rosters: Please post your initial roster, and post an updated version when a trade is made. Always include Cap status. Rosters listed without scratches (since that would never happen) are not allowed.

After you pick, please PM the next GM to notify them! And POST THIS WITH YOUR PICK!!! If you cannot PM for whatever reason (i.e. on a phone), ASK SOMEONE TO PM in your post.

Please, do not announce trades until all teams have a GM.

More the other teams--Seattle's list had 3 Swedes, 2 Finns, and 1 Dane as second round targets, but the OHL prospects were the three still available when the Kraken selected.

That said, Brzustewicz has the tools to end up as the second best right-shot D from this draft; Lardis presents a real opportunity in the second given his combination of skating and scoring; and Rehnkopf keeps improving with each viewing. So the Kraken are glad with the OHL pipeline.

Confirmed. We hope that the move back home to his roots will give Comtois the inspiration he needs to fulfill his potential, and at this time we felt that the fresh start was necessary for both sides.

Savard provides a proven veteran defender who will be tasked with taking on PK and defensive responsibilities while aiding in the mentorship of any young defensemen that break into the lineup.

The Ducks also announce today that they have will be parting ways with HC Dallas Eakins after his contract expired at the end of the 2022/23 season. We thank Dallas for his positive impact in helping some of our key young players adapt in the early stages of their respective NHL careers, but we feel that it will be a different voice to lead this team back into contention in the coming years.

Interviews for a replacement have already been underway and a new head coach is expected to be announced in the next week.
