This is usually a three-week commitment that requires you to check the thread almost daily. Do not sign up if you cannot commit to this. Two auto's and you will be relieved of your duties as GM.

We will use the authentic draft order based on points percentage as of March 30, 2023.

PHASE ONE: 2023 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
We will have a 7-round 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Picks: The draft clock will run from 8 a.m. to Midnight ET. Each pick will be 4-hours long. Once time is up on a pick, anyone can auto the pick. We auto 3 North Americans, then 1 European, from NHL Central Scouting's Final Rankings list. Goaltenders are NOT auto'd. Before any more picks are made, the GM can change the auto pick and not be charged with an auto. However, all auto picks are final once the next pick is made. No exceptions.

NOTE: All teams must have a minimum of FOUR and a maximum of TWELVE picks in any draft. The ONLY exception to this rule is if a real-life team currently holds fewer than four or more than twelve.

PHASE TWO: FREE AGENT FRENZY
You may NOT sign any pending UFA's (this includes Group 6 UFA's). Following the draft, there will be a UFA signing period. All UFA's are assumed to want to test free agency (this does not mean they won't re-sign with their old team). I will act as Universal Player Agent and weigh the role and salary offered from each team.

The Salary Cap will have a max of $83.5M and a floor of $62.2M.

NOTE: No trade can involve more than FIVE pieces on a side, or EIGHT pieces total. Also, if any player gets traded who absolutely wouldn't be (i.e. McDavid), the deal also gets vetoed automatically. Either GM can post the trade on the thread, but I need the other to confirm it. If the trade is borderline veto-worthy, PLEASE seek my approval first.

Traded picks are limited to 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Rosters: Please post your initial roster, and post an updated version when a trade is made. Always include Cap status. Rosters listed without scratches (since that would never happen) are not allowed.

After you pick, please PM the next GM to notify them! And POST THIS WITH YOUR PICK!!! If you cannot PM for whatever reason (i.e. on a phone), ASK SOMEONE TO PM in your post.

Please, do not announce trades until all teams have a GM.

NASHVILLE, TN- The Buffalo Sabres announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Colton Parayko from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Isak Rosèn and a second round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

Parayko (6’ 6”, 228 lbs, 05.12.1993) comes to Buffalo following eight seasons with the Blues. During that period, he tallied 235 points and 169 penalty minutes in 577 games. Prior to turning pro, Parayko spent two years with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League and three years with the NCAA’s Alaska-Fairbanks Nanooks, including one season where he served as the team’s captain. The St. Albert, Alberta native was drafted in the third round, 86th overall by the Blues in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

“We are thrilled to add Colton to our blue line,” said the Sabres GM. “He is exactly what we need in our lineup - a big-bodied, defense-first, right shot veteran defenseman who will round out our top-four. We wish Isak the best of luck in St. Louis.”
The 2023 NHL Entry Draft continues this week from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The Sabres’ first pick is slated for 39th overall, in the second round.​

We sorta of see this as investing in a higher return 2-3 years down the line as I believe we can get a 1st rounder back in a future Demko or even Merzlikens deal, or atleast that's what I tell myself to sleep at night.
