Maybe Blake knew what he had in Laferriere and this made one of Iafallo/Moore more expendable? I think Moore cemented his role on this team when he really started filling in nicely with Danault/Arvy and also had a very underrated shot. He's also the younger option. Laferriere is going to be a team favorite. It just feels like he is going to be such a solid addition for us.
Laferriere reminds me of Iafallo and Moore as far as being relentless, smart, puck hounds.

Nice shot by Danault - Byfield did a good job freeing that up for him.

This was the turning point in the game. 2nd period with 6 min left. Perfetti took what looked like a board. Englund crushed Samberg in a fight, which was an extra 2 min for the instigator.

But after that Peg came unglued and was looking to start fights. That kind of mentality won't win the post season.

Even PL mentioned in his post game that even though LA looked like crap after the 1st period it didn't faze them. Just like SJ being up 3-0 in 2014.

Vilardi getting injured followed by the PLD goal has to be an absolute worst case nightmare scenario for WPG.

Vilardi has so much talent. He could be a 30 goal play driving top winger in this game. But he just can’t stay healthy.
That is a big factor that some people keep ignoring when analyzing this trade. It feels bad for Gabe, but you can not count on him for a long season.

I dont know if this belongs on his durability resume.. That injury couldve happened to anyone with that weird lizzo hit.. the one last season when he slid into the boards didnt seem like much at all but he was gone for over a month

^That's from last year.

In my defense of Englund, one of the things I've pointed out is his penalty differential. He brings physicality without putting you on the PK. In fact, he usually puts you on the PP.

He also drew a penalty last game.

Through 3 games he leads the Kings in penalty differential, hits, and is second in blocked shots.

Well he is a bottom pairing dman for a reason.

Story on him last year was that he started out rough but got better as the season went on. Gotta remember he only has 1 season's worth of NHL experience under his belt. New team, new partner, new system.

I think he had a positive impact overall tonight.
I agree. I didn't know who this guy was when we signed him but he brings attributes we either dont have or lack on the backend, such as...

- Size
-Physicality
-Can fight
-Reach

Lets see how the season progresses.

I hate saying this, because it seems insensitive, and I love Gabe, but that scenario also demonstrated some of the justification for making the trade.

Sucks for Vilardi

Also, the England fight. They never showed it on replay. What happened? Lucky he didn’t get a major penalty. Crazy we actually have some grit this year. And the PK was surprisingly good.

f*** yeah boys!!!!!

I agree with that but I am biased because I think he's garbage. He should have gotten a major but take that with a grain of salt.

I'm okay with glass-and-out guys like Regehr but they also got the puck out with regularity. Englund wants to be a glass and out guy but he flubs it way too much for that. He's a destitute man's Robyn.

That being said it was nice to see him beat the brakes off Samberg. Don't come in unless you want it.

Thats a pretty fair assessment. He has all the tools, just can't put them together at the same time.

I'm really happy for him that he's committed ot using those tools defensively as well, that's what will keep him around the game long enough to maybe late bloom some scoring.

He was never able to use his teammates well, tunnelvisioned into always wanting to one on one guys, but if he can cause turnovers and chaos with his size speed and reach he'll have a nice long career and isn't totally worthless offensively if he gets the puck on turnovers in the ozone. IE he wont' be in the NHL for his offense.

It's always been the younger guys who put themselves in vulnerable spots. But has this been on the upswing the last few years or is it just me? Ever since the play has shifted more to high skill and teams started drafting accordingly, I see this a lot more around the league.
