Going to be hard to keep OZ down much longer…

Zell might be a defensive liability at the NHL level at this point of his career. One of our scouts noted in an article that Zell needed to work on many little things being a smaller defenseman as for how to get out of certain situations as well as being cognitively risk averse on pinching down in the Ozone.

First time rookies Carlsson and Minty got broken in the NHL. I'd rather not subject Zell to that possibility just yet. Plus, unlike the Ducks, the Gulls have been winning or earning a point recently. The Ducks are like a forest fire and there isn't a Smokey bear in sight to tamper it down.

Not really. He's got defensive zone issues like HD said plus it's not like he's some dominant offensive force down there. He's a pretty good offensive defenseman in the AHL, I think he's like 12th in defensive scoring? 10th, I just checked after last night. Very good for a rookie, very promising, but not something that demands a promotion. Maybe a cup of coffee as a reward but he needs seasoning.

Tired: Zellweger is a smallish defenseman who is a bit of a liability defensively, it would benefit him staying down there for another year until he gets more comfortable away from the puck.

Wired: Zellweger looks like he could QB PP1 in the NHL right now, keep him down there so he’s not infected by the mind virus known as Newell Brown

"Wired"... hence, why we call the Ducks' PP the "Power Kill".

Was just thinking the same as I read through, maybe a small cup of coffee late in the season, partially as a reward but also to show how much work is still left to be done this off season. Other than that, I don't see the rush for this season. He's not on that "too good for the AHL" level of dominance.

Ideally we have him and Luneau competing for one properly sheltered third pairing roster spot to start next year.

Hes 2nd in Rookie dmen scoring behind Brandt Carke...and beating out future hall of famer logan Mallouix. He is the youngest in the top 10 by 7ish months(Clarke is 2nd). 3rd in shots amongst all dmen.

Pretty impressive season from him.... but really no reason for him to see NHL time this year other than a cup of coffee as you suggested. I wont be shocked if he gets a long look at preseason/camps next year tho.

Not a super exciting game. Rare multi-point effort for Hinds. Here's an Iowa fan eating her own glasses.
