One note on Luneau: If he is healthy scratched for 5 consecutive games, then he is eligible for a 2 week AHL conditioning stint. Today's game against Pittsburgh marks his 5th consecutive healthy scratch, so I believe he could be sent to San Diego tomorrow,.
That will be invaluable for him

The rules allow for that even though he technically isnt AHL eligible? If thats the case, that would be nice.

How many times could that happen? Im sure its a violation of some rule, but could they send him down for his 2 weeks, bring him back, play 1-2 games then scratch 5 games and send back down?

Seattle did it with Shane Wright just last year. I’m guessing there isn’t a limit to how many times you can do it, but it probably would suck as a player to do it over and over again.

The 2nd line is clicking and while Id hate to break it up, have to wonder what happens when Killer is back.

Z or Terry going down to the 3rd line seems, odd.

Ah ok, I didnt follow the Wright situation very closely. Thanks.

Ya, Im not sure it would be the best asset management or how good it would be for the player, but if they really dont want to send him back to the Minors, it would be the easiest way to do it.

Mac was sent down on a conditioning stint in San Diego in his D+1 season, as an 18-year old. He actually was sent down because he got injured in the NHL. Mac became the youngest goal scorer in Gulls history... until Hvidston broke it last year as a black ace for the Gulls after his season ended in the CHL.

I didn't know about the missing five consecutive games can permit a player a 2-week conditioning stint, which Wright did as @duxfan1101 shared. Wright played 8 AHL games.

Vatrano is going to go ice cold at some point, that's his whole career.

That is why we need the top line to get going since it’s likely . But if he stays hot all year then no complaints of course lol.

Just have to enjoy the ride now, we have a winning record because of Dostal and that trio mostly.

That’s sports, in general.
Sure, no shade on Frankie. Point is that we can't count on him providing a full third of our goals going forward, and once that changes we'll have to get that offense from somewhere else or else improve our defense, which is vastly better than last year but still pretty bad.

It’s interesting, well at least to me, with Minty, Lacombe, and even Vaak playing so well, have not even thought about Drysdale.

With Killorn and Drysdale out and are key parts of the team, it’s going to be interesting where they slot. Can only make the team better.

I do think it’s time to separate Terry and Z, even if it means one of them is on a 3rd line. Even Silf has been playing better than Terry as of late.

Agree the Terry and Z pairing has never worked.

Seriously. They looked terrible in preseason.

Mac was also recovering from a muscle strain that happened just before training camp started. He was supposed to miss only a day or two, but ended up being longer and even longer to get into a pre-season game.

Glad Mac is up to speed with Vatrano and Strome. Even if they don't get on the scoreboard, they still are able to play the heavy game to grind the opposing team's momentum.

I mentioned this sentiment last night about Drysdale being out of the lineup and we're doing fine. Last year with Drysdale out of the line up, it was abysmal for us. This year, we have a lot more talent and talent depth. We gotta include Lyubushkin and Gudas with the two rookies and an improved Vaaks. Vaaks playing on the 3rd pairing with Gudas is great placement, but Vaaks on the top pair with Fowler wasn't great.

With the forward corps mostly the same unit, the defensive roster turnover had a seismic shift that I don't think we're appreciating much. It's just "is Carlsson in or not?" and "It won't be a fun game without Carlsson." or "Lyubushkin sucks as Mintyukov's partner".

2021-22 season, we were healthy with Zegras and Drysdale coming along full time after their 24-game stint in 2020-21.

First 3 games: 2-1-0 (4 pts)
First 9 games: 2-4-3 (7 pts)
First 17 games: 10-4-3 (23 pts) We shortened the bench on Z and Drysdale. GM Murray resigned at the start of the 8-game winning streak.

Injuries started up on our forwards. Then at game 33, the injuries started piling up on our d-men to where we were fielding three rookie defensemen in Drysdale, Benoit, and Mahura.

Flash forward two years and we've added youths C McTavish, C Carlsson, LD Mintyukov, LD/RD LaCombe, and RD Luneau at the NHL level. (Groulx actually started as 4C in 2021-22.) We can say that Minchy and LaCombe are far better, talented rookies than Benoit and Mahura. And we have LD Zellweger in the AHL! We've been without Killorn and Lundestrom all season, which means we'll get more talent whenever they return.

As for Z and Terry, Terry did start playing more a team game last night and we saw dangerous chances occur. That's all we want because the production will soon follow good process. It's still early and they can develop better chemistry.

We definitely miss Drysdale still and will improve. I’m comfortable saying he’s our best RHD(and I really like Gudas)

Injuries are the only real concern with JD at this point

The little man needs to show he can comeback and play some damn games. Some players just become injury prone and it’s a trend. I love that we bridged him 3 years. He’s always been a toss up for me as far as a guy our Gm considers a long term player for the ducks. After all, he didn’t draft JD and he’s a smaller dman. And we already have that with fowler and possibly our little man down with the gulls.
