A top-6 winger with some size. You mean like Killorn?

Yes and no. He will help but if we can get Stromer and Vats to the 3rd line, that would be ideal. I just imagine a 2nd line that plays heavy and skilled.

It would also be nice to have a younger guy so that when Killer regresses or his contract is up, we have the next wave already there

Well, when Rico is healthy and Killorn returns, then Mac could center Rico and Killorn. That would push Vatrano and Strome to the third line.

For the time being, ya. But I'm saying Henrique is likely to be traded at the deadline. If we can package him with whatever makes it work, target a young big bodied top 6 winger. I know it's not an easy or even likely trade, but something I would look into.

Preferably someone who shoots right as well.

With how McTavish has been playing with the puck, i'm not sure he and Zegras would be great - i think they might both be guys who need the puck.

Zegs might be interesting with Strome/Vatrano when everyone's healthy.

I'd be willing to try it again under Cronin. It wasn't exactly great under Eakins. One more top 6 players and we could legit run 3 top 2 lines I think. At least if the McTavish line can keep it up.

I’m just so excited. We are still missing Killorn (going to bring support to both sides of the ice), Rico(I thinK he will be fine, will get going), and Drysdale (who looked excellent). With the progress of Leo, Zegras, Mac, and even Terry, will have a Top 9 that can compete in this league.

I think the Leo and Terry combo is going to be something special. I think Zegras still needs to find his game, blame it on a late camp, and adjusting to Cronin‘s system. He has done good things, got an apple last night, but think he should be doing more. I honestly think Zegras and Terry should be separated, especially with Leo now in the line up.

Would maybe run…

Killorn - Carlsson - Terry
Zegras - McTavish - Strome
Jones - Henrique - Vatrano
Carrick - Groulx - Silf/Johnston

I think I’d like to see Zegras with Mctavish and then Killorn with Leo/Terry when he’s back, feels like it may click better for him

Zegras is to weak to hold the puck long imho. Teams are just bull rushing him, cuz he isn’t fast enough right now either. I see why we want to transition him to wing. But you can tell zegras is still playing as he would a center. It’s an adjustment period.

We really need 1 more winger to step up/be added and push Leason back down to the 4th line (or maybe Leason actually steps up and becomes a legit option). Hopefully Perrault/Tracey take that step this year and show that they can be a middle 6 wing option.

Dont f*** with the 1st or second lines while they look this good.

Put killorn and Henrique on the 3rd line and let them feast.
Its a huge bummer Lundy is out. He would have actual linemates to play with.

Z-Leo-Terry
Vatrano-Mac-Strome
Henrique-Lundy-Killorn

The way the second line is playing, that is actually a very deadly top 9.

Got to keep Johnston in there vs. Coyotes (and probably for the next 4 after that). Liam O’Brien was running around in the preseason and went after Gudas.

Gm 4 vs. Arizona: Liam O’Brien
Gm 5 vs. Boston: Milan Lucic
Gm 6 vs. CBJs: Mathieu Olivier, Erik Gudbranson
Gm 7 vs. Boston: Milan Lucic
Gm 8 vs. Philadelphia: Nic Deslauriers

Johnston ice time:

Gm 1 vs. Vegas: 5:55
Gm 2 vs. Carolina: 6:04
Gm 3 vs. Dallas: 10:40

Jones has shown flashes at times in his career but he’s just too inconsistent. I think they move on after this season and go with someone more stable
Jones actually looked like he was putting it together at the tail end of last year. Hopefully he just needs a few games to get going but he hasn't really been noticeable in a good way so far this year.

He really hasn’t been a detriment to the team either. No problem with him remaining in.

It’s a little brutal to have Leason with McTavish but I agree. I wish Nesterenko or Perreault were ready
Could switch vatrano and strome as well. I can't tell if strome and Mac work better or if it's vatrano and Mac.

I like Johnston in. There was a play where the Dallas player took a late poke at Gibson covering the puck. Luneau and a couple other Ducks were right there and did nothing. Johnston came in and started shoving the guy. If he wasn't there, the Ducks would have just let them get away with that, which you cant have, imo.

It feels like the top line is only playing at like 40% capacity. Z isn't best used as a puck retriever/secondary passing option.

I know we're only three games in but quite a few times Terry's been holding on to the puck for way too long (essentially killing the play as a result) instead of just dishing it to his teammates.

EDIT: Interesting. I thought Luneau looked good and that LaCombe struggled a bit in this game. Seems the consensus is the opposite.

Need to fix the 3rd line when Henrique returns. Not good to have a 3rd line with zero scoring chances.

Scratch Any of Jones, Groulx, Silfver

Keep the 4th line together please!
With a healthy line up I think the 3rd line will be fine.

Silf and Jones need to be shipped out. Groulx has been okay I don’t mind keeping him around.

And should be on the lookout for a Henrique replacement

He’s also made some questionable dump and chase decisions, that line is not a dump and chase line

There’s close to 0 chance our 6 million dollar killorn is placed on 3rd line duties past for little bits of time

While mostly the same players, this team has a very different identity from the past years. And it has changed in very exciting direction. Add in our young Ducklings and these games are super entertaining.

First game vs Vegas we were more rusty than them. We beat a contender-ish Canes team and just took the contenders Dallas to the line but fell short.

Good times

We're not mostly the same players. We have only one returning D-man in our top-7. That's a significant change. When we traded away Lindholm and Manson, that changed the whole dynamic of our team. The return of Drysdale, the youths, and new RD vets are playing better than last year's grouping.

In the first two games, we were essentially running the same top-6 from last year. Mac has stepped it up coming into this season. Then add in all the d-men that weren't here last year, including Drysdale. There is a different feel b/c our defense gives us a different feel, especially with Gudas' sandpaper personality on ice against opponents.
