The start of our schedule is so ridiculous. We don't play the first 4 days of the season, then we have back to back games against 2 of the top 5 teams in the league (Vegas and Carolina), then 3 more days off, then a game against another really good team (Dallas). We play 2 games over the first 9 days of the season.
Sounds good to me, more practice time is good for us. Also more time for killorn to heal quickly without missing so many games

What do you mean?> olol

He'll play a handful of games for the Ducks, and they'll likely use the "conditioning" loophole to get him down to the Gulls for a couple weeks as well. Then back to Gatineau for a short time before joining Team Canada camp. Coming back from the WJC, he's very possibly traded (for a huge haul) to another Q team loading up for a playoff run.

Also then possibly joins the Gulls again for their playoff run, if his Q team happens to be beat out.

Interesting if you consider that in tandem with the waiving of Agozzino. If he's indeed going on IR, how would our C's line up? I guess Zegs, McTavish, Strome/Rico, Carrick/Groulx?

We are going to get absolutely creamed to start the year. Injuries, new coaching staff, players that held out, rookies that just turned 20/aren’t even 20.

Going to be ugly

I sure hope they just keep working hard and don’t get too doscouraged

Carlsson officially to IR to open to season. totally the right decision, but still somehow incredibly appropriate for this team.

Hmmm...

Forward, Top-6 ===
We're essentially the same crew as last year without Killorn and Carlsson. This year, though, we're starting off with Mac at center instead of Strome, which is an improvement.

Forward, Bottom-6 ===
Negative: We lost C Lundy which hurts defensively as he's one of our fastest skaters and PK'ers.
Positive: Carrick is skating better now, a year after his hip surgery. Leason looks improved.

Defense ===
Here is where we made the biggest change. We went from mostly OFD's to adding two right-handed DFD's, Drysdale returning, and three rookies. The DFD's should complement Fowler better defensively between Gudas or Lyubushkin as well as play on the PK.

Rookie LHD LaCombe looks to be a solid two-way D, who looked like our best defensive d-man during pre-season and played often on the PK. Rookie LHD Mintyukov is more dynamic offensively and learning on the fly defensively, but his talents are probably better than White, Hagg, and Vaaks. Rookie RHD Luneau is a good two-way D that also needs def refinement, but dunno who we sit out at RD between Gudas, Lyubushkin, and Drysdale.

=== Coaching side ===

ES Offensive Scheme ===

D-men are encouraged to pinch, which means a forwards must recognize to rotate up to the blueline. This scheme is the same as last year.

ES Defensive Scheme ===
In pre-season games, it looked like we were playing man. This was the scheme last year.

The hopes of the ES scheme is we're better with the X's & O's under Cronin than Eakins. Zegras and Drysdale have missed camp, but they're only missing some of the technical stuff to the newer scheme. We're fortunate to have so much time between the last pre-season game and first regular season game so that Z and Drysdale can catch up.

In pre-season matchups, we are limiting 40+ SOG attempts more than last year.

===========

I want to see if our young forwards in Terry, Z, and Mac take another step forward in production early in the season. Then, how long will it take for our D-corps to gel or find the correct chemistry. It might take until Christmas for the whole team to be on the same page.

This year was always going to be a development season, especially knowing vet D-men Hagg and White were waived in preference for our rookie d-men.
