Not sure what to expect today, only a few decent names left on the board ...still think Vancouver wants some winger scoring so there may still be hope to get Lindholm for their cap dump but I'm thinking they figure away to try and get a winger (through retention) and keep Lindholm...it's a West arms race

This is turning into a tough call for the Bruins here. Should it be Mercer instead of Lindholm?
Lindholm provides more experience, better face off percentage. The dropoff in scoring is concerning me. He has basically played himself off the major scoring lines.
Mercer fits in better with the time line of prospects developing and his scoring totals are more impressive given they are accomplished in the middle 6. But is he really a center? His face off percentage isn't great and according to advance stats his line is in a negative goal differential when he centers it as opposed to being the winger on that line. It sounds a bit like Zacha albeit with a better motor under the hood.

Which way do we go? Make a move at all around Ullmark, JDB or stay put and try to acquire a piece as FA in off-season versus spending assets? All things considering, I view the season so far as a positive. They are clearly a play off team albeit the early season steam has evaporated some. I don't think many of us expected to be even in this place. We may not be a cup contender but at least we will get an extended season where everything is possible. However, I think it should be the season beyond this one that the sights should be set on by Sweeney. It's time to build something instead of patching holes.
Get them both, DeBrusk goes for Lindholm and then Ullmark for Mercer.

I’m so shocked that another Massachusetts born player who was “reported” to “want to come to home” chose another warm weather team. Shocked I tell you!

Can’t wait for his extension so we can move on from that “but he’s a Boston guy, he wants to be here” nonsense.

Vegas has a management team who has only one agenda every year and that's to win the Cup at all cost !!

Draft capital can be trade fodder when you have a pull like playing in a fun city, with crazed fans, that just won a cup.

To me though, they’re exactly why you close some LTIR loopholes. They buy high on FAs and aging stars and when they break down they miraculously wind up on LTIR. The carrousel of players of years past that have gone through their organization in a handful of years is rather impressive.

Extension in Tampa or Vegas

These tweets form Duthie has a feeling of him being in Sweeney back pocket

That feels more like cynicism on your part

I do wonder though about players choosing Boston now that it's Marchand's team rather than Bergeron or Chara. I mean he's certainly respected in the league but also grinds opponents in ways that might linger.

No not at all, all GM's/teams have their reporters/media outlets, that they use to send certain info out, especially this time of year, whether it be true or not, its the game within the game. Can't blame the reporters. Hell at times they may not even know its taking place, but Im sure in the back of their mind they know the possibility is there.

That's not Sweeney's MO. Think everyone's just a little thirsty this time of year

It will soon be McAvoy's team, but a lot of players would love Brad to be skating along side them with a chance to raise the Cup. He has matured so much in the last 5 years.
