A true #1 center, in the classic sense, is a guy who is getting 90 or more points. Bergeron wasn't that type of player, but he was perfect for da Broons and their style.
Bergeron certainly WAS an elite player, one of the best of all time at what he did. What he didn't do was get 90 points. And yes, that line with Marchy and Crosby was elite.
And yes, he did have a huge impact on games. When he and Krejci were in their primes, da Broons dominated 5-on-5 play, won one cup and made two finals. They won 2 or 3 President's trophys.
Posters said that Lindholm wasn't the type of #1 center they wanted. He's not a 90-point player either.
