I think we could see the Bruins make as many as 3 deals, a smaller one something like Seeler on D, then DeBrusk and Beecher for a retained Lindholm and Ullmark for Mercer, that would be a great deadline.

Gonna need a 3rd team to retain on Lindholm. Can one even? What retain percent was he already at?

I have Friday off for my SI joint injection so I'm either going to be looped out for the entire day or I'll sleep through the entire deadline.
Good luck with the injection!!

There are 32 starting QBs in the NFL but there certainly aren’t 32 QB1’s

Ultimately I won’t cry if they acquire him, he obviously makes them deeper and better. Just don’t think he’s a true #1

Sidney Crosby to the Boston Bruins as 1C it is
Truth is, that neither Bergeron nor Krecji (2011 and 2013 playoffs excepted) were true #1 centers. Neither ever had more than 79 points in a season (Bergeron once) and Krejci only had 70+ points once, Bergeron 3 times. However, both were #1.5 centers, and played strong 200-foot games, and fit Boston's system to a T. Lindholm is that type of a player, but not as good as either Bergeron or Krejci. He has one season of 82 points and one of 78.

"QB1" means starting QB, so there most certainly are 32 of them.
You think Bailey Zappe or Mac Jones is a QB1? They literally are but they are really not. Not if you’re serious about winning.

Now Lindholm isn’t Zappe, just explaining how a 23rd ranked center isn’t necessarily a 1C. There probably aren’t 32 true #1C in the world

Just like Bello is the #1 SP on the Sox but he sure as shit isn’t an ace yet.

Here is the link to the rumor of the DeBrusk/Beecher package for Elias. It says hypothetically.

Just scroll down till you see it.

Isn't Lindholm playing RW in Vancouver? Or is that the other Elias?
When they first got him, he was RW on the first line; then he was moved to 3rd line C.

I think Bergeron was absolutely a #1C, he had such an enormous impact on the game. Playing with Crosby on team Canada…very clearly an elite player

Lindholm is a good #2 guy but is playing as a 3C alongside Garland and Bains/Podkolzin/depth guy and hasn’t exactly been a good fit. They tried him on the wing with Pettersson and looked good at times but it seems he’s more suited as a center. Lindholm was going to be the back up plan in case Pettersson didn’t sign but since he has, he’s more than expendable.

He doesn’t drive play so he needs someone on the wings that can help him do that. Marchand/Pasta should compliment him really well. Really good faceoff guy and an all situations guy.

Just trade Grizz, and don't resign him
I just don’t think anyone wants to give up anything for him. I think someone will give him a one or two year deal this off season. I just doubt anyone will give up assets for him. Just not any type of needle mover at the deadline and not a rebuilding team wants either

I’m hoping teams look at his regular season +/- and forget about looking at his playoffs.

Bergeron not a 1C? Huh?

Donny keeps waving that magic wand. I have said it a 100 times best Gm in the league.
based on?

Again, "QB1" quite literally means "starting QB" so you can discuss the quality of specific ones all you want but by definiton there are 32 of them.

Not all that interested in the semantic "true #1" discussions as I think it gets silly and nonsensical the way people talk about it, whether it's Pitchers or Centers or whatever.

So, semantics aside, my original question still stands- What C can we at all realistically think we can acquire by next season who is better than Lindholm?

Imagine if they could make this happen though.
