What would it take from the Bruins for the Canucks to bite. Need cap space and a 1st I'd assume.

Complete speculation on my part:

Maybe VAN was waiting on Gentzel but Pit wouldn’t commit to moving him till now? Also, going to assume (if what Chris reports is true) that they have a belief that they could extend him versus Lindholm..?

If it wasn’t Chris Johnston (or someone reputable) reporting this then it would have been laughed at and completely looked over

He is a Bergy-light. Good in all situations and defensively responsible. Not a shiny 1C that everyone here wants, but he would improve the team. I think his biggest asset would be stability, and we've seen the boys need that. Also think his numbers would jump in Boston as compared to his use in Vancouver. They've been using him as a 3C recently.
They don’t have to jump significantly, as long as the other team’s numbers decline accordingly. 12 consecutive games or whatever it was with 3 goals against is the problem.

talk about a doozy

i wonder why none of the local guys picked it up?

Canucks will need to free up at least $6M and for the Bruins to obtain Lindholm, close to $5M. Add to the fact that Pittsburgh is looking for prospects and young players more-so than picks for Guentzel, my first thought is the Bruins offering a pretty good prospect or two in the deal (folks are saying Vancouver's prospect pool is pretty barren, but I'm not sure).

This is probably why Ullmark's name has been floated around recently and of course DeBrusk. The Bruins will probably have to make at least 1 move to free up cap space before a three team trade can go down.

Depends how desperate they are for Guentzel and how hard they’re panicking with Lindholm. Not sure if he has trade protection but maybe we were one of his top choices, or if any other contenders are still interested.

We don’t have a 1st until I have grandchildren but likely one of our good prospects, or we flip the assets from a Debrusk/Ullmark/etc. trade.

I'm thinking we'll see a six-team trade this year.
Don Sweeney's deadline war room

I like Lindholm as a player and probably more than most judging by the look of comments. However I do not support giving him anything more than a 4-5 year extension and I don’t feel like he will re-sign at that term. So not exactly ideal, but would have to see what it actually is.

Absolute masterclass by Sweeney. Don’t like the price? Get a pissed off and motivated version of them for cheaper a few months down the line.

Jokes aside, Lindholm is probably the best and (now) realistically acquirable impact player at his position we can get this year, and likely will be this summer as well. If it happens and he lights it up with Pasta and/or Marchand, there’s your guy mid-long term. If not? So long, and you’re not stuck with his 7-year piece of paper.

I think he’s a fringe 1/2C with high upside but there’s nothing wrong with that. Top 6 centers are hard to find and don’t forget Bergy/Krejci were both considered the same back in 2011. You need to luck into or really pay up for an elite #1. Would rather be halfway there. Have to imagine our core guys would be pumped up and it takes a lot of pressure off Coyle/Zacha.
Be some add with no cap.

Lindholm and Hanifin are my two dream acquisitions for this team. Hoping to get them for free this summer. Chiarelli coveted Lindholm in his draft year and Sweeney coveted Hanifin in his draft year. Both went to Carolina and then together and to have them in Boston together would be good.

Two of the great feel-good stories are probably coming to an end, if not now, then in the summer. The first is having the son of the 50-year bull gang member on da Broons for the first half of his career, and then the bromance b/t Ullmark and Swayman, with the goalie hug to boot. Would feel sad to see both of them go, but it's a business, and if you can improve the team, then you have to do it.
