He didn't though. Rask won the Vezina the first year into his new deal. He finished 5th in the Vezina voting the year before signing his new deal.
Apologies, had my years mixed up. Could’ve sworn he took a one year prove it deal, won the Vezina, and then got the deal.

Obviously got my years mixed up.

If, and a big if, they are getting a new deal for Swayman ahead trade deadline, it's almost safe to say they have some cooking about Ullmark. I don't think they are getting astonishing return, but it looks like they could be trying to recoup some assets to go after Hanifin (?).

You know what they say, even a broken clock is right twice a day. I posted this back in January about Swayman's next deal:

The other interesting thing is assuming you move Ullmark and then promote one of the PBruins goalies even at 1.5 next year, you havent spent one red cent more for the tandem going forward than you did this year.
Yes, plus not only to do you have additional cap room with the cap going up, you have additional assets from trading Ullmark that can be used to address needs or build the long-term cupboard for the organization.

You were right about the 1yr prove it deal, just a year off on the Vezina. I had to look it up honestly because I knew he had a Vezina somewhere in there around that time.

I’ve seen several reports on Hanifin wanting to go to a Florida team - has this ever been confirmed/where did this info originate from?

Agree

Be interesting where and when they spend money

I’d normally be irked over Hanifin blowing the Bruins off for flip flops and off days of January golf but Lohrei likely (hopefully) sooner rather than later will ascend to legit top 4 defenseman which wouldn’t have happened

There are 3 important guys for next season that could keep the Bruins 100 + point train chugging along - Lohrei, Lysell, and Poitras

Lysell is by all accounts a great kid and willing learner - he’s quick and a very good passer. Being around Pastrnak & Marchand both wings who played in Providence as well will be good for him

Poitras even being a bit stronger/solid and experienced will help

If they move Zacha to LW they can possibly explore a big time center

Assuming they move Ullmark

Raycroft
Bussi

Lindholm- McAvoy
Lohrei- Carlo
XXX- Regula

Middleton or some physical solid defensive defensemen

Regula I like a lot and he’s 6’4 and strong defensively- he would be in PK rotation

McAvoy could be potentially only D men under 6’3

To maximize return in theory Hanifin would need an extension prior to trade deadline to get 8 years

He’d need to have a team he would want to go to and they want him and they’d do extension

The final part is teams work out return

That’s where they are at

A lot of people know about this including the Bruins and Devils and anyone else who has inquired

Pat Brisson is the agent and he is a super agent and has players in every organization including 3 of Boston’s 50 contracts so they all kinda know

His family knows as well

Wennberg is a nice player but he’s redundant here, I don’t really see the fit
Not someone I would be excited about but the Bruins need centers, and he is one. Kills penalties. Not the greatest at faceoffs but he at least takes a lot of them. Not much better than Geekie offensively but much better at everything else.

It's always about the return, but yeah that would be less than ideal.
Why ? According to the Bruins fan base, he sucks in the playoffs.... sending him to a rival sounds good

IF Ullmark gets traded, and that's a big "IF", it would be Western Conference. No way Donnie lets Linus beat us in the playoffs.
But doesn't he suck in the playoffs?
That's what I keep hearing
