If there’s one thing that always works out, it’s acquiring a “power forward” on a long term contract entering his 30s.

Yeah that has a real likelyhood of being 3-4 years of dead contract at the end. Almost have to figure into the price, the price to dump him in the summer of 2028 or 2029

He plays and gets hurt like Lysell did, that sets his development back. He needs to stay up here and PLAY.

I think it would be good for him. Clear the mind and reset.

I have no problem with "load management." However, if Montgomery continues to "yoyo" Matt up and down, as Mike Milbury says, that's a problem. Don't play head games with a nineteen year old.

Poitras appears to be strong mentally. He made a mistake which led to a goal. Minutes later, he recovered and assisted on a goal by Heinen.

Montgomery better be careful.

Wilson as a Bruin I'd just be over the moon. He's the toughness I'd take. He just needs a new team I think. At the cap level in 2 years his contract would be fine with the output he'll have here.

My god he'd become a fan fave.
Fan favorite, until the realization of his contract kicks in..........

I doubt Wilson is even available, the consensus I see from Caps fans is that he's next in line for the C whenever Ovi retires. But even if he were, he's a soon to be 30 power forward that has a 7 year extension kicking in next season, I'd avoid that. If we want that type of player, focus on finding the next Tom Wilson, don't overpay for the current one. If that makes any sense.

Yeah that's fair for sure.

One of the many things I have learned since joining these boards is GMs scouting a game is much more serious than a regular scout. Washington is rumored to be offering Bear a 2-year deal around $2M a season, which they can fit while they have a few guys on LTIR, but they will need to move a contract out. The Flyers have been open for business regarding their defensemen, and with Forbort and McAvoy out, it may be time to strike a deal to add to the back-end.

And we have a roster full of brilliant minded guys?
Do you honestly think Risto would improve this squad?

We already have enough fans griping about toughness, I couldn’t imagine how this place would explode adding a player to the roster who makes dirty plays and doesn’t back it up.

He’d become the whipping boy so incredibly fast here.

I've kind of just given up all hope that the roster would be constructed with a balance of skill and toughness, honestly. It's bad enough there's no one in the system, either.

Like I said, I'm just not really enjoying the on ice product this year at all. You know it's bad when you have Jeremy Swayman actively trying to clear his crease on a nightly basis because our defenders are too soft to even get their hands dirty.

Team is berift of any type of snarl back there when McAvoy is out, and you don't want him to handle business. You would think guys like Sweeney and Neely would understand by now you're not going to go to far when it matters with a defense that doesn't get dirty.

Swayman clearing his own crease tells you all you need to know.

50% retained is 2.5 million which is cheaper than Forbort

Why would PHI want to retain 50% on Risto for 3 years? They already have $3.5 million in retention with the Hayes deal. They'd have just over $6 million in dead money for 2 years (Hayes then comes off the books). It also means for the next 2yrs that the Flyers would only have 1 open slot for retention.

They'd be better off just buying out Risto if they wanted to get him off the books that bad.

The amount of goals scored on the Bruins from players not clearing the crease this season is absurd.
