Huge to get value out of a 7th round pick btw
Jeffries getting 3G+3A in 10 games in BP is a good start in the AHL and makes me more hopeful than just his (very good) college numbers did.

Tikkanen at 6'8" - man, at this rate it may not be long before they refer to some goalie as being "just" 6'2". But maybe we actually have a goalie prospect now?

I am sort of surprised they signed him even though he played the best of the three goalies in Bridgeport. I assume this means somehow they will come together with Skarek to terminate his contract or maybe they trade him. Tikkanen is huge obviously but needs to work on quickness and his glove hand. I still believe Lennox is better goalie prospect right now but he needs to get healthy.

Tikkanen is a bird in the hand. If Lennox’s injury could be a chronic problem into next season (ftr I have no idea what his injury is) why screw around with not signing Tik?

You're wondering why we signed him?

Am I imagining these numbers?

No reason to keep Skarek around...

I didn't always care much for Appleby this season, but he was ultimately servicable

No he played the best of three in Bridgeport like I said. There are now three goalies under contract at minor league level and I believe they need a veteran to take one of the spots in Bridgeport and not have the tandem be two kids. This most likely means they will get rid of Skarek who hasn’t developed but he’s signed for next year so in some ways that’s easier said than done.

Djurgarden lost to Brynäs 3-1 last night, meaning Brynäs is the champ and is heading back up to the SHL.

They swept Calle Odelius' Djurgarden team.

Former Isle Dick Tarnstrom's kid Oliver was the hero with 2 goals. He was a Rangers pick in the same draft as Ljungkrantz.

For Odelius, he returned to the line-up after his injury for the final four games of the previous series against Mora. He then played 2 of the 4 finals games. Not sure why he wasn't suited up last night.

All in all, his 6-game playoff performance coming off of injury added up to 1 assist, 6 PMs, and a -2.

Knowing the Isles, gotta think they'll plan to bring him over to BPort next fall.

Then again, he missed the bulk of this season and could see some prime, prime playing time in Sweden next year. that would push back his ELC.

As for BPort, it's looking like they have no less than Mitchell, Fulp, Warren, George, and Hutton on the books for next season. Both Salo and Cholowski are UFAs.

I think I'm most intrigued to see what Iskhakov can do at the NHL level. Bridgeport is and has been a wasteland for quite a while now. Let me see what this kid can do with actual talent around him.

Seeing Zach Hyman on EDM tearing it up this year, and an optimist could point to him as a comparable for Dufour. Both 5th round picks. Similar size and they kind of look the same when shooting. Dufour is now 4 years post-draft, and Hyman at that point hadn't played a single pro game. Then Hyman was a 10 or 15 goal scorer until he finally hit 20 goals ten years after being drafted. Now he' scored 36 and 54 goals the past two seasons and has 9 goals in 6 games these playoffs.

Obviously he's playing in an ideal situation to put up points, but I remember suggesting him as a possibility when he turned UFA and people said he'd be a terrible signing coming off a "career" 27 goal season in TOR. He's now just upped that, of course playing with (I think) Draisaitl, but at $5.5M AAV I'd say he's a bargain.

Awesome for George that London is on such an incredible run.

In Quebec, Gill's Drakkar hit a wall. After few problems in the first three rounds, they got shutout twice at home to kick the series off against Drummondville and then got thrashed 6-2 in the first game on the road. Last night, the sweep by Drummondville was completed in what was ultimately a tight game.

So, the season's over. Drummondville will now head on to the Memorial Cup where they'll face Saginaw and (highly likely) London as well as the WHL representative (being determined). The top teams in the WHL are considered the best in the CHL circuit this year.

As for Gill's teammates, several are looking like top 150 picks this summer. I continue to say look out for Fenenko as a free agent and Melovsky as a double overager.

Gill looks good or a beneficiary of other players? I feel like Dufour was a massive mirage given his play in BP

As a bit of a minor sidenote here, but there's a rumor over here in Germany right now that Jacob Pivonka is about to sign with a DEL team.

Ducks fan coming in peace.

Can you get me some intel on your former prospect Jacob (Jake) Pivonka? He just signed with my hometown team Düsseldorfer EG of the DEL and I never got to see him beforehand whatsoever.

Any help would be appreciated.

After a fairly good stint with the USNTDP, he was a mid-round selection of the Islanders and it was felt by fans at the time that he had all the makings of a future Casey Cizikas replacement.

His freshman year at college was humble statistically but just fine on whole, and his sophomore season was slightly better and included participation at the WJC. After that, he stagnated in development. He could never pick up the pace offensively and even though he was Notre Dame's captain in his "senior" year, it was his worse season statistically. He played a 5th year as a college transfer to Omaha and had his best offensive season, but 18 points in 37 games in your 5th year is nothing to write home about.

This past season was a pretty nice introduction to pro play. He was on a minor league contract and became a go-to guy for Worcester, a team that pretty much missed the playoffs on the last weekend of the season. Statistically, it blew away anything he had done before, especially considering how stron his second half was.

I'm expecting him to need a short adjustment period to the DEL and then have a season akin to that of Evan Barratt, who just concluded his first European outing for Nuremberg.

I think Düsseldorf will get above-average defensive play out of him and he's got some really good bloodlines. On whole, a pretty smart player.

Fantastic write-up, thank you very much kind Sir.
