@Sea Eagles you’re needed here

Honestly mate, it hurts, but my feel here is that it's about pathways and opportunities. When you're in a system with so much depth and quality, the chances of making it all the way to the top is difficult.

But that's where character rises to the top. If you stay and want to battle with the best to be the the best, it's a testament to that fighting spirit we are synonymous with.

Really, it's a very harsh, but great measure of who and what we want and need, and it ALL stems from character, resilience, staying power, fight.

I rated Prosvetov right up there, BUT, Annunen literally lit it up at the end last season. Georgiev had more wins during the season than anyone else. We've drafted Nabokov. We have other options as well.

We now have the epitome of resilience in Francouz helping with development and pathways now. I actually expect an uptick in performance in net all round. Expectations would be sky high, so would the pressure, and completion for spots.

Some will be strong enough to tough it out. Others prefer the easy route (possibly not the most successful either)..Out of those two, I know who I'd prefer in our pathway, and system.

This will always happen when you have such depth, strength, completion and culture throughout the organisation!

Blud, our goaltending system is far from having depth and quality. It's below average.

E: I loved Prosvetov myself, but the fact is that he isn't good. He's an athletic freak who has a very low IQ for the game. Should've became a porn star.

happy summer to you guys. do you have a current top 10 prospect grouping in mind?
curious where nabokov would slot, and if anyone still likes stienburg.

also am big fan of prishchepov. think he's going to be a solid NHL player one day (bottom 6).

Avs don't have ten prospects worthy a mention.
1. Ritchie
2-4. Nabokov, Gulyayev, Behrens
5. Kovalenko

Nobody's liked Stienburg for years.

Mine would probably be around...

1. Cal Ritchie, C
2. Mikhail Gulyayev, LD
3. Sean Behrens, LD
4. Ilya Nabokov, G
5. Maxmilian Curran, C
6. Jean-Luc Foudy, C/W
7. Zakhar Bardakov, C
8. Tory Pitner, RD
9. Oskar Olausson, RW
10. Maros Jedlicka/Christian Humphreys

Didn't include Kovalenko since he's pretty dang old for a potential prospect, but yeah after number 5 or 6 it drops off a ton with a lot of unknowns and wildcards. Will look a lot better if players like Zellers, Pitner, Humphreys, and Curran take the next step. A ton of complimentary pieces, but not a lot of actual catalyst talent. Humphreys probably has the best potential to be a catalyst, but a large red flag made him drop to the bottom two rounds. I do still have hope in Foudy recovering after an injury-filled season, but not going to lie that his offence is looking to be more AHL-level than NHL. If he finds an NHL spot, it might be from being a high-energy level bottom 6 forward, but physicality wasn't ever really in his repertoire.

I forget what our HF cutoffs are for prospects, but I believe it’s something like 60 games and 24 or older don’t count (please correct me if I’m mistaken). Based off of this I would go with

1. Ritchie (large drop after)
——————
2. Gulyayev
3. Behrens
4. Nabokov
——————
5. Olausson
6. Foudy
7. Ivan Ivan
——————
8. Curran
9. Pitner
10. Pavel (truly have no clue who to place here)

If Annunen or Kovalenko can be included I would place them at 5th and 6th respectively within their own third tier.

Kovalenko is going to be 25 this fall, I don’t rank him as a prospect

Ritchie
Gulyayev
Nabokov
Foudy
Behrens
Olausson
Ivan
Zellers
Pitner
Curran
Humphreys

Don’t expect them to have a plan for Prischepov, he’ll certainly go back to the Q this year and they’ll have to figure something out for the year after that

We'll be starting the prospect ranking polls soon, sometime this week (whenever I get around to it). I usually wait until after free agency and dev camp to start in case there are any relevant trades or signings that come up.

I can't wait to see how quickly Nuke gets bounced from this summer's plus/minus game.

@henchman21 @95snipes any thoughts on JP Hurlbert?
He’s got an epic name!

Seriously though, as of today, he’s one of the top 08s for the US. Shows a lot of skill and a great mind for the game. Should be a very high impact player for the USNTDP. Where he’s played so far, the competition isn’t great. So he has some bad habits. Holds on to the puck, skates around the outside looking for lanes, avoids physicality. He should end up around 6’1” so his frame is mailing it ends up there. Good but not elite skater at this stage.

I think he’s a kid that is in the conversation for the first round in 26. It’s a little early to say he’s a lock and he’s doesn’t yet show he’s an absolute top guy. Looks more like a winger than center to my eyes. This will be a big year for him. A lot of hype can be built with a good year with the u17s and if he can tweak his game to center.

Thanks a lot for the info! Any chance he could be Texas' version of Auston Matthews or not that good?
If he doesn't have a great hip check it's false advertising.
 He can also be a mad drinker as well.

I don't think he's near that good. Matthews was already trending towards top 3 by the time he hit USNDTP. Everyone knew he'd be a huge deal. Hurlbert is more of a kid that has talent but is far from a lock of anything. If he doesn't grow or his game doesn't mature... he ends up like Humphreys. If he does get to ~6'1" and develops a game that attacks the middle of the ice more (potentially even sticking at center), we may hear top 10 chatter.
