Kidney has 0 points. How has he played though?
I didn't see last game, he's been a little better then I expected so far but at the same time this is why you have to sometimes make tough choices. Would Kidney be better off playing a lot on the 1st line in the ECHL or not getting much ice time in the AHL.
It can work for some to send them down and others that may just need to work on something specific, you have to just look at each case on it's own. I said last year I did not like Mysak on the 4th line as I felt he looked overmatched physically and with the speed of the game as he was not getting much time. But he did look better as the season went on.
Houle talked about this with Mesar, which I still find to be a very interesting situation, he said something along the lines of the prospects need ice time to learn in order to develop, I tweeted Marcotte and said why didn't that apply to Mysak last year or something to that effect and he just said excellent question.
I was never a huge Mysak fan, so to be honest i wasn't overly concerned with him staying up as his skating/speed/strength are going to be a lot to overcome though he does seem to be a hard worker with some skill so hopefully he just keeps at it and keeps getting better.
But with Kidney I have more hope as I think he's a little more skilled, smarter, and quicker then Mysak was last year. At some point it's something I hope management is looking at, for now I'm not concerned as we see how quickly injuries can pile up. The other thing is this team might just be too young and they may want to look at moving someone to 3R and looking to bringing in some help either in net or on the blueline or a really good defensive forward cause we can't be letting in 5 or 6 goals a game all season long. (not that they can't get better on their own)
Everyone will look at it differently as the move would be for different reasons. Sometimes you have guys like say Juulsen, Ikonen, or Mailloux that for whatever reason injury or other that they just miss a shit ton of key development time. So in some cases just playing a ton is better then not playing much at a higher level as you want to just get the base work in so that their minds catch up at some point and they get into a grove.
Other guys might be better off at the higher level because they played a lot in junior and now need to learn how to adapt to the quicker game speed or maybe they need to learn something like face-offs and they have a good vet that's teaching them. You don't really see the results or hear about it, so of course there are so many factors that go into this that we are fans just don't have the info on to make the best decisions.
