Kuch deserved Hart.
- 54 points ahead of next closest on team.
- In on 50% of teams goals. Only 11th time it has ever been done I believe. Mcdavid only other player in recent memory to do it.
- First winger to ever hit 100 assists
- 3rd player to ever get 40G 100A
Yet Mack won pretty handily as a lot of people predicted.

Bread with 3 first place votes though screams WTF.

The 100 assist is such a dumb argument. Literally means nothing other than a nice round number. Is his season worse if he has 45 goals and 99 assists?

Say what you want but it's still looked upon as an accomplishment. The fact only 5 players have ever done it is telling as well.
There's a reason every player wants to hit 50 goals or 100 points if they can. Because they are nice round numbers.

Exactly... because of the narrative that started long before end of the year.
I think the Lindsay is well deserved. But for the very definition of the Hart trophy Kucherov was ahead of him.

How is it wtf?

Panarin scored 120 points for the best team in the league standings .

Plenty of players have won the Hart while not being top 3 in scoring, he’ll Taylor Hall was like 8th or something when he won it

Kutcher f***ed himself with his ego and the way he acts and talks with the media. Also showing poor sportsmenship during the all star game and skills comp didn't help either

If you are using the Hall Hart to defend Bread getting 3 first place votes......it's just a really bad look considering the top 4 guys this year.

It's kind of wtf because there's literally just no argument for him being in the top 2. The highest you could have him is 3.

Huh? Panarin was top 4 in scoring anyway.

But the Hart used to be a separate award from the Art Ross.

Hall deserved it , but

If you don’t like Hall then how about
Messier won it in 1992 while 6th in scoring., like 30 points behind Lemieux.

I’m not arguing Panarin should have won or anything, but 3 votes shouldn’t be something controversial

3 first place votes is controversial considering the seasons the top 4 guys had.

Panarin had the type of year that could have won the Hart in Hall’s season, but with the competition this year, he was clearly not as good as MacKinnon or Kucherov and it’s hard to argue he was more valuable relative to his team either. 3 votes is small, sure and not anymore wtf than Lindgren getting a vote or a 2nd place Crosby vote, but it all kind of shows that some voters don’t care enough to not be biased just to “throw some love” for the players they like/cover.

If you look at the thing as a scorecard, you can make the argument that the guys on the periphery are justified in getting some points, but that's not really how it works. Each voter votes in a vacuum, independent of the other voters. They have to believe you deserve the Hart Trophy to give you a first place vote.
