Honestly I wouldn’t blame him and I think that’s on Cronin/Verbeek. The accountability double standard Zegras was given was shit. Pathetic display of leadership.
It really has been a disgrace how zegras has been treated here.

Could get a hatty in a game and still be benched for taking a penalty that is committed 3 other times by others

Another piece of fallout from that Dubois trade is now the Kings will likely be in the market for a scoring forward. Based on their current roster, they will most likely prioritize a righty (Lafferiere is the only righty they have under contract), which means they will be after some of the same players as us.

I'm thinking with the extra $3.25 mil AAV opened up for the Kings, it gives them more ammo to keep RD Roy and still be in the hunt for a scoring forward. A double whammy!

On The Jeff Marek Show today, they were talking about the goalie market and Friedman said:
“I’m gonna throw another name at you, and that’s John Gibson. I think there are some teams looking into Gibson.”

Added that New Jersey was one of those teams, he’s not sure about Ottawa being a fit, and the Ducks don’t want to retain salary. Also mentioned Detroit as a team he suspects to be in the goalie market.

Don't even know enough about Detroit or Ottawa to think about who I'd want from them that you could get for Gibson, to be honest. Even at half his salary it's not like we're getting anyone premium.

True… I don’t see the harm in retaining 1-2 mil tbh
It eliminates a retention spot for the next three years. That's a long time. Having flexibility at the TDL is important. Even if we start improving and competing for the playoffs it doesn't mean we won't end up in a spot where a trade or two could be helpful to the then current team.

Not on my computer…. But isn’t the net gain cap space giving us flexibility?

This is why we dont want to retain. Losing 1/3 retention spots for 3 years can hurt the teams flexibility in future trades. The next 3 years are going to be critical for building us into a cup competitor.

It’s not ideal but probably wouldn’t hurt that much, you rarely need all three. They will probably only use one more regardless this year, two if they maybe have another Klingberg type pickup, and after that there’s no obvious candidates.

I could also see Detroit not really push for it and certainly not pay for it. They have a lot of cap space and Gibson over Husso would only add $1.5 million or so.
