How are Sidorov and Dionicio “likely” to become NHL players? Just because they’re putting up points in juniors? Based on that, Steel and Pastujov should be good NHL regulars too.Ducks about to bring to the NHL level half the defensemen from past few drafts, absolutely ridiculous how well things have panned out. Very good talent evaluations.
Happy for both Sidorov and Dionicio, from being passed over in the draft to become likely NHLers over two seasons, fantastic. There's another guy who got passed over twice now: Tomas Suchanek.
For anyone following the WHL, Sidorov also leads his team in PIMs with 56. Just two misconducts and the rest minor penalties. He got passed over because he lacked the two way game on his draft year, improved enough to get drafted. Is it undisciplined play or does he compete hard but ends up taking penalties?
Yes, they are lottery tickets. But at least at this time they are not a bust. If they continue play at their current levels they should get ELC's, and then we can see how well they do in the minors, and if they are eventually worthy of promotion to the NHL.How are Sidorov and Dionicio “likely” to become NHL players? Everything about their skill sets and the scouting reports indicate they’re longshots to make it to the NHL. Would love for them to prove people wrong, but they’re lottery tickets that you hope pan out, not guys you can project to be in your lineup.
Meaning, they're at least producing in juniors?Yes, they are lottery tickets. But at least at this time they are not a bust. Yes, ELC's and some time in minor league hockey are likely for them. Hopefully they continue to improve, and they would be success stories if they make it to the NHL. It's great that they're producing in juniors, but the poster I replied to said that based on this season, they are "likely" NHL'ers. That couldn't be any further from the truth.Yes, they are lottery tickets. But at least at this time they are not a bust. From where they started, that being outside of any NHL radar whatsoever to being guys that will surely be offered ELCs and look like they will play NHL games at some point. It's too early to tell obviously if they become NHL regulars but there's a likely chance they will play NHL games. How are Sidorov and Dionicio “likely” to become NHL players? I haven't heard that but he said he's done playing juniors, yeah. He actually badly wanted to play for San Diego this season. He just couldn't do it because he was traded to the hosts of the Memorial Cup. He also said he'd talk to the Ducks organization before making a decision between AHL or Europe for next season. He ended up signing in Biel so I'm assuming that the Ducks are cool with this. Of course he can still play AHL if the Ducks sign him and bring him over.King was an overager draft pick and he still hasn't signed an ELC. San Diego signed him to an AHL contract. I wonder if the org might delay signing them to an ELC next year to see what they have in both Sidorov and Dionicio. Sidorov will probably play in the AHL and Dionicio has stated he would rather play in Europe than another season in the CHL.
I mean I agree with the rest of your post but you'll struggle to find a player with a better skillset than Dionicio. Players of his size can hardly ever do the things he does. He's still unlikely to become an NHLer but for different reasons. Also, with his playing style, even if he makes it, question remains for how long his body is gonna hold up.How are Sidorov and Dionicio “likely” to become NHL players? Can you put some bumpers on this? Or just anywhere, ever?I mean I agree with the rest of your post but you'll struggle to find a player with a better skillset than Dionicio. I think Europe is best route for Dionicio
Pitre remains out today.

Cutter Gauthier was in the midst of some controversy this season, but there's nothing controversial about Craig Button ranking him at No. 1.www.tsn.ca
Gauthier at 1, Olen at 29 and.......dionicio at 41! Wow!

Look at his stats. He has a similar PPG as Perreault in the AHL. At some point he has to actually live up to him D-1 hype...Roddy above Shane Wright.....man that guys stock has dropped
Yes agreed. I was just stating an observation.Look at his stats. He has a similar PPG as Perreault in the AHL. At some point he has to actually live up to him D-1 hype...
Button falls in love with guys he has followed since they were younger. I wouldnt get too excited about it. If he is 1 or 10, I dont think it matters. We got a much needed piece who will fit perfectly with the future. He doesnt need to be elite in order for the Ducks to easily win this trade.I have complete faith in Gauthier unlike some others but how the hell is he ranked higher than Michkov? Lol
