Injuries has plagued Hvidston's D+2 season. He was injured during pre-season with the Ducks and missed the start of the Swift Current regular season. Then he got injured prior to Oct. 15th. Connor returned from injury in the week of Nov 14 - 19. Recently, Connor missed a game due to injury, the Jan 20th game. Swift Current has played 49 games and Hvidston has only logged 35 games.
Hvidston started the season hot. He scored 6g +5a = 11 pts in seven games, that's a scoring rate of 1.57 points per game. Then the second injury of his season happened.

As @The Midnight Burrito pointed out, Hvidston's goal scoring has jumped up quite a bit, despite not vastly improving his overall production in his D+2 season. The shift in becoming more of a goal scorer for the team is huge as he becomes the "go to guy". Well, with Swift Current trading for Conor Geekie, the 11th overall pick in the 2022 draft, Geekie assumes that top goal scoring role.

Here, we notice that shift in goal scoring for Hvidston is identified with his PP time. He's more of a balanced scorer at even strength this year compared to last year, when Hvidston made a big jump in scoring.

Other facets of Hvidston's game that have improved are his faceoff % and shooting. The shooting improvement directly relates to his his improvement in goal scoring. His faceoff talent could be valuable on a team where its centers are lacking at winning faceoffs. Hvidston could mimic the Rico role as a face off specialist winger.

When Swift Current acquired Conor Geekie ten games ago in a trade, Hvidston's offensive role went from pilot to co-pilot. Geekie has scored 15 points (9g + 6a) and a hattrick last night with Swift Current.
