Here is Hvidston’s first goal, can’t seem to find the second

Hvidston was 2nd star of the game with his goalie being 1st star with a shutout. Hvidston also went 10/21 at faceoffs. With Hvidston back, the Broncos finally won their first game of the season.

Gm 1: Swift Current 1, Lethbridge 3
Gm 2: Lethbridge 5, Swift Current 2
Gm 3: Calgary 0, Swift Current 3

At this point I am skeptical of the future success of any forward the Ducks draft...and the Ducks have earned that skepticism.

I wonder if it’s a scouting thing, or a player development thing. Or both.

It’s great to get caught up in the shiny new prospect toy, but look at players like a Tracey, Perreault - two players that still can’t seem to figure it out to get to that next level.

Probably a combination bit of both. Tracey doesn’t have the high end attributes, and Perreault doesn’t have that compete. We probably had as an effective development staff as the Angels. Hopefully things will be changing.

Tracey and Perreault are late, first round picks, not top-10 selections. The recent top-10 forward selections we have don't stay long in development because they're that talented to be selected in the top-10: 2019, 9th overall C Zegras; 2021, 3rd overall C McTavish, and 2023 2nd overall C Carlsson.

Two seasons ago, Tracey and Perreault played well enough to earn a call-up by GM Verbeek. Last seaosn, we had a new head coach in Sommer and our roster sucked worse than our NHL club. Tracey and Perreault weren't put together like they were in the previous season. Both were playing down in the lineup with non-talented centers. Groulx was the Gulls' 1C last year to end the season.

If Carlsson is in the AHL, then one or more of Tracey, Perreault, and/or Pastujov could look better. But we also added dynamic offensive d-men Zell and Minty, while also adding bite with Hinds. Hopefully, we'll cash in on the PP often.

We're still in development mode and might finish in the top-10 for the 2024 draft. We'll probably target a forward.

Alright. This is my "practice" stage. College players haven't started yet and neither has the AHL. Some prospects haven't been returned to their junior teams. Let me know if I miss any CHL guys.

I’m planning on keeping an eye on Jecho this year for the draft. First heard about him a couple months ago after the draft Port mentioned he was a fellow countryman coming to play for the oil kings and his size and skill combo was eye catching. And now having caught a bit of game action he could be a really good catch, 6’5”, 5 games played 3 goals 3 assists for 6 points. He’s breaking out well in the WHL. Will be interesting to see where he ends up going in the draft.

I watched his goal finally and it didn't disappoint. It's at 2:05 if curious.

weird skating stride but a really nice sequence for him.

Also, based on EP, it seems that Port is the only NHL-associated prospect on the Oil Kings.

If we get another first round pick at the TDL, then who knows. Man, his big out there. Loved this soccer style play when he used his feet to receive the pass and placed the puck in front of him to shoot for a goal.

Yeah, he may play himself too high in the draft to be available with one of the second round picks, he could be this years Honzek in a way.

Not certain what he was doing but he very intentionally put his finger/over/around the mouth of another player in a scrum.
